Summary | This standard specifies methods for the determination and presentation of the attenuation properties of materials. The decay characteristics are given in the following forms: decay rate; accumulation factor; decay equivalent. When appropriate, together with indicators of uniformity and mass per unit area. This standard contains a representation of the declared values ??of attenuation characteristics. This standard does not cover methods for the periodic inspection of protective equipment, especially protective clothing; methods for the determination of the attenuation of layers in radiation beams; methods for the determination of the attenuation of walls and other parts of installations that provide protection against ionizing radiation. This standard applies to materials in sheet form for the manufacture of protective devices that provide protection against X-ray radiation generated by X-ray tube voltages up to 400kV and gamma radiation generated by radionuclide emissions with photon energy up to 1.3MeV. This standard does not apply to protectors |
