Battery grade lithium carbonate
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the requirements, testing method, inspecting rules, marking,
packaging, transportation, storage, and quality certificate as well as content of contract (or
ordering list).
This Standard is applicable to battery grade lithium carbonate that is manufactured in
various methods.
2 Normative references

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms are applicable in this Standard.
3.1 Magnetic impurity
The material which can be attracted by ferromagnet directly or indirectly. In this Standard,
it refers to total content of three elements - ferrum, zinc and chromium.
6.4.4 If the moisture content is unqualified, the lot will be judged as unqualified.
6.4.5 If the particle size is unqualified, the lot will be judged as unqualified.
7 Marking, packaging, transportation, storage and quality
certificate
7.1 Marking
The following information shall be indicated on the product package.
a) product name;
b) lot number;
c) gross weight;
d) net weight;
e) content of battery grade lithium carbonate;
f) supplier name;
g) implemented standards;
h) place of production;
i) Symbol of "caution of rain" in GB/T 191.
7.2 Packaging
The product shall be packaged with double packing - inner plastic film bag and outer
plastic woven bag, or composite plastic film bag. The mouth of inner bag shall be fastened
or heat-sealed; mouth of outer bag shall be sutured firmly. The net weight shall be
determined according to purchaser requirements.
7.3 Transportation
Contact with acid shall be avoided during transportation; fracture of package bag shall be
avoided during handling; and pay attention to protection against moisture.
7.4 Storage
The product shall be stored in dry place with no acidic and corrosive gas.
7.5 Quality certificate
Each lot of products shall be accompanied by quality certificate in which the following
information is indicated.
a) name, address, telephone and fax of supplier;
b) product name;
c) the number of this Standard;
d) lot number;
e) date of manufacture;
f) inspection result.
8 Content of contract (or ordering list)
The following content shall be included in contract (or ordering list).
a) product name;
b) quantity;
c) the number of this Standard;
d) others.
A.2.11 Standard mixture solution B. Get 10.00mL of standard mixture solution A (A.2.10);
place it into 100mL flasks. Add 20mL of nitric acid (A.2.4); dilute it to scale; shake it evenly.
1mL of this solution contains 10μg of ferrum, zinc and chromium elements.
A.3 Instrument and materials
A.3.1 Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrograph.
A.3.2 Ultrasonic wave generator (power capacity 100W, frequency 40kHz).
A.3.3 Magnetic bar (6000Gs~8500Gs, φ30mm×100mm).
A.3, 4 Argon [φ (Ar)≥99.999%].
A.4 Samples
Battery grade lithium carbonate.
A.5 Analysis Steps
A.5.1 Samples
Weigh 200g~250g of the sample, accurate to 0.1g; make parallel sample at the same
time.
A.5.2 Blank Test
Carry out a blank test for the accompanying samples.
A.5.3 Determination
A.5.3.1 Weigh sample material (A.5.1); place it in a 500mL jar. Put the magnetic bar into
the plastic jar; add 250mL of first-grade water slowly (A.2.1). Put electric blender into the
jar; blend for 30min at speed of 100r/min.
A.5.3.2 Take out the magnetic bar; clean the lithium product on surface of the magnetic
bar by using water. Put the magnetic bar into a 500mL glass flask; add 150mL~200mL of
water. Then clean it for 20min by using ultrasonic wave.
A.5.3.3 Add 15mL of prepared aqua regia (A.2.6) into a glass flask; heat it on heating plate
until it boils mildly for 20min. Cool it to room temperature.
A.5.3.4 Take out the magnetic bar from the glass flask; wash it for 3~5 times with water.
Transfer the sample solution into a 250mL flask for constant volume determination. Carry
out measurement for the sample solution as well as blank solution (A.5.2) with plasma
spectrograph according to the spectral line given in Table A.1
