This Standard defines the requirements for 900/1800MHz TDMA Digital Cellular Mobile Telecommunication Network General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Equipment MS in the service, function, performance, interface, EMC and environment adaptability. This Standard is applicable to MS - 900/1800MHz TDMA Digital Cellular Mobile Telecommunication Network suppporting GPRS which supports GPRS and GSM MS which does not support GPRS. Other technical requirements except GPRS related requirements are applicable to GSM MS that does not support GPRS.

This Standard is used along with YD/T l215-2006 900/1800MHz TDMA Digital Cellular Mobile Telecommunication Network Test Method for General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Equipment - Mobile Station (MS).
This Standard is a substitution of YD/T l214-2002 900/1800MHz TDMA Digital Cellular Mobile Telecommunication Network Technical Requirements for General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Equipment - Mobile Station (MS).
Compared with YD/T 1214-2002, this Standard has the following changes.
a) Add the part of function requirements.

1 Scope

When MS supports WAP function, it shall support CS WAP function.
5.3.20 Input Method
MS shall at least support the input of simplified Chinese and digital, where the input method of simplified Chinese shall support at least Pinyin.
5.3.21 Data Interface
The functions of various available data interfaces provided by MS to users shall be normal. 5.3.22 Storage Card Interface
When MS has a storage card interface, it shall be able to work normally, and MS shall be normally available for it.
5.3.23 Battery Capacity Indication and Alarm
