Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard uses the redrafting method to modify and adopt UIC 6240:2006
"Exhaust emission tests for diesel traction engines" (English version).
This standard replaces TB/T 2783-2006 "Exhaust emission tests for railway
diesel traction engines". Compared with TB/T 2783-2006, the main technical
changes of this standard are as follows:
- ADD normative references (see Chapter 2)
- DELETE the cost of technical approval (see Chapter 7 of the 2006 edition);
- MODIFY the emission limits of pollutants (see Table A.1; Table A.1 of the
2006 edition);
- DELETE the smoke limit requirements (see the column of Bosch smoke in
Table A.1 as well as the Figure A.1 and Figure A.2 of the 2006 edition);
- DELETE the list of accreditation bodies and diesel engines that have
passed the UIC emission test (see Appendix F and Appendix G of the 2006
edition);
- MODIFY the RB name of the accreditation body to the China Railway
Certification Body (see 3.3, 4.2; 2.3, 3.2, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 5.1.3, 5.1.4, 5.2.1,
5.2.2, 5.2.4, 5.3.1, 5.3.2 and Appendix E of the 2006 edition);
- DELETE the description of the responsibilities of the Diesel Engine Expert
Committee of ERRI (European Railway Research Institute); CLARIFY that
the only organization responsible for technical accreditation is the China
Railway Certification Agency (see 5.3.2, 5.3.3, 6.1.1, 6.1.3 and Appendix H
of the 2006 edition).
The main editorial differences between this standard and UIC 6240:2006 are
as follows:
- DELETE the "Foreword" and "References" of UIC 624;
- For UIC standards and ISO standards cited in UIC 624, if they have been
adopted as Chinese standards, use the Chinese standards to replace the
corresponding UIC standards and ISO standards;
- CORRECT the editable error of "P ≤ 560 kW" in Appendix A of UIC 624 to
"560 kW < P ≤ 2000 kW" (see column 6 in Table A.1).
Exhaust emission tests for diesel engines of motive
power units
1 Scope
This standard specifies the limits of pollutants emitted by diesel engines for
railway traction and the methods for determining these emissions.
This standard applies to railway traction diesel engines, new railway traction
equipment or diesel engines reinstalled from existing traction equipment. It
does not apply to special-purpose locomotive diesel engines (such as oil
refineries or mining locomotives) and diesel engines with a transmission power
of less than 100 kW.
2 Normative references

the dated documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable
to this document; for the undated documents, only the latest version (including
all the amendments) is applicable to this standard.
