1 Scope
This Standard specifies technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marks, packaging, transport, storage for automobile metal fuel tank. This Standard is applicable to metal fuel tanks loaded with vehicle gasoline, vehicle diesel used for M category and N category vehicles (hereinafter referred to as the fuel tank). The metal fuel tanks of vehicle fuels such as alcohol fuel, biofuel, coal-to-liquid can refer to this Standard for implementation. The types and connection sizes of fuel tank cover and fuel filler port used for plastic fuel tank can also refer to this Standard for implementation.

be above the fuel level of the fuel loaded in the fuel tank. The opening pressure of intake valve shall satisfy the normal working of the engine that is matched to the fuel tank. The opening pressure of intake valve is determined by the supplier and the purchaser via negotiation.
4.5.2 Test according to 5.4. The fuel tank shall not have permanent suction deformation.
4.6 Fuel tank cover and fuel filler port
4.6.1 See Annex A for the types and connection sizes of fuel tank cover and fuel filler port.
4.6.2 Test according to 5.5.1. After fuel tank cover and fuel filler port are locked, they shall have self-locking function. The loading-unloading shall be easy, labor- saving.
4.6.3 Test according to 5.5.2. The fuel in the fuel filler pipe and at the fuel filler port shall not inject out or overflow.
4.7 Safety performance requirements
4.7.1 The nominal tank capacity of the fuel tank shall not be greater than 95% of the maximum liquid capacity of the fuel tank.
4.7.2 The gas tank of which the nominal tank capacity is over 95L shall be equipped with safety valve device. The safety valve device shall comply with the provisions of 3.1 in GB 18296.
4.7.3 The gas tank that is equipped with fuel evaporative emission system must have an exhaust vent. This exhaust vent shall comply with the provisions of 3.2 in GB 18296.
4.7.4 Sealing of fuel tank
4.7.4.1 Sealing of fuel tank body. Test according to 5.7. Gas leakage is not allowed.
4.7.4.2 Sealing of fuel tank cover. Test according to 5.8. The sealing of fuel tank cover shall comply with the provisions of 3.3 in GB 18296.
4.7.5 Opening pressure of fuel tank’s safety valve
Test according to 5.9. The opening pressure of fuel tank’s safety valve shall comply with the provisions of 3.4 in GB 18296.
4.7.6 Vibration durability of fuel tank
Test according to 5.10. The vibration durability of fuel tank shall comply with the 5.4.1 Composition of test device
U-type water pressure gauge (specification is 0~10000Pa, graduation value is 10Pa), glass rotor flowmeter (accuracy level is 2.5/4.0), electric water pump (pipe booster pump), stand, connecting pipe.
5.4.2 Test method
Put the fuel tank on the test stand. Add nominal tank capacity of water. Shown as Figure B.1, fix the appliance on the test device. Fill a half height of water into the U-type water pressure gauge. Connect and seal other accessories on the fuel tank. Turn on the pump. Adjust the flow to the corresponding value to the maximum fuel supply of the matching engine (in L/h). Continuously pump water for 2h. The water in the U-type water pressure gauge shall not be pumped off. Observe the change of fuel tank and the water column change in the U-type water pressure gauge. When the water column pressure difference is reduced from the maximum value, this maximum pressure difference shall be the
opening pressure of intake valve.
5.5 Test of fuel tank cover and fuel filler port
5.5.1 Loading-unloading test
Load and unload the fuel tank cover with bare hands. Check if it can be loaded and unloaded. Check if there is any loosening.
5.5.2 Fuel filling test
Under the condition that the flow is 50L/min, fill fuel into the fuel tank. Observe if fuel injects out or overflows.
5.6 Maximum liquid capacity test of fuel tank
Place the simulation loading form of fuel tank on the platform. Remove the fuel tank cover. Add water or fuel into the fuel tank till there is water or fuel overflowing. Then measure the volume of water or fuel added. It shall be the maximum liquid capacity of the fuel tank (in L).
5.7 Sealing test of fuel tank body
Place the fuel tank in a clean water tank. Access 30kPa ± 5kPa relative atmospheric pressure into the fuel tank. Immerse the testing parts of tank body into the clean water successively. The depth is not greater than 100mm. Retain the pressure for 1min. Observe if there are bubbles.
5.8 Sealing test of fuel tank cover
Place the simulation loading form of fuel tank on the platform. Add nominal tank 13 Pressure resistance of fuel tank 4.7.7 5.11 - - √ 2 pcs/a

6.4 Type inspection
6.4.1 The product for type inspection shall be extracted from the products inspected as accepted by exit-factory inspection. Before type inspection is performed, the extracted sample shall be re-inspected as accepted according to exit-factory inspection items.
6.4.2 In one of following cases, the type inspection shall be carried out for the fuel tank.
- trial model identification for new product or old product produced in transferred plant;
- great changes in major design, technique, material which may affect
product performances of the fuel tank;
- big fluctuation in exit-factory inspection results or great difference from previous type inspection results;
- production resumed after discontinued production of more than one year; - required by national quality supervision organization;
- periodic inspection according to Table 3.
6.5 Rules for determination
6.5.1 If type inspection is passed, this batch of products shall be put in storage or exit factory as accepted products.
6.5.2 If there is rejected item in type inspection, it shall double sampling from the original batch of products for re-inspection. If there is still rejected item, the product shall not exit factory.
7 Marks, packaging, transport and storage
7.1 Marks
The product and packaging shall have marks. The marking content shall include product name, product model, trademark, manufacturer name and address,
exit-factory date, executive standard code. The product shall be accompanied
