Foreword
This Standard is an integrated revision to GB/T 12480-1990 “Rain proof
performance test method for buses” and QC/T 476-1999 “Rain proof
performance limit for buses”.
Compared with GB/T 12480-1990 and QC/T 476-1999, the main changes in
this Standard are as follows.
- modified the application scope of the standard;
- supplemented and modified some terms and definitions;
- modified the rain proof performance limit for bus;
- simplified, adjusted and supplemented test conditions, test methods;
- adjusted inspection items and deduction values;
- modified the requirements for raining device;
- modified the adjustment method and calculation method for raining intensity.
Annex A and Annex B of this Standard are normative.

Rain proof performance limit and test method for bus
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the rain proof performance limit and test method for
bus.
This Standard is applicable to various buses specified in GB/T 3730.1-2001
“Motor vehicles and trailers - Types - Terms and definitions”. Special vehicles
modified by bus, cars with cabs and enclosed cars can be referred to this
Standard for implementation.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of
this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated
references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any
amendments) applies.

definitions
3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 rain proof performance for bus
the ability that the bus is at rest and all doors, windows and orifice covers are
closed under the specified artificial rain test conditions to prevent rainwater from
entering the compartment
3.2 seep
water slowly emerges from the gap and spreads around the inner surface of the
body
3.3 slow drop
water emerges from the gap, leaving at a rate less than or equal to 30 drops
per minute or intermittently falling along the inner surface of the body
± 1) mm/min. See Annex B for the adjustment method of raining intensity.
Regularly check whether the raining intensity meets the requirements.
6 Test methods
6.1 Park the test vehicle in a designated location in the raining site.
6.2 The tester enters the compartment and closes all doors, windows and orifice
covers.
6.3 Start the raining device. Perform the test after the raining state is stable.
The test time is 15min.
6.4 Five minutes after the start of the test, the tester begins to observe and
record the leakage of various parts of the compartment. If the leakage part is
covered by the inner guard, the inner guard of the part shall be removed. If the
leakage state cannot be determined, a rectangular metal sheet of appropriate
size may be used to closely contact the leaking portion, 45° downward from the
vertical plane, draining the leaking rainwater, and discriminating the leakage by
the state of the rainwater leaving the sheet.
6.5 For passenger bus with luggage compartments, the test personnel shall,
after the end of the test, wipe the water at the joints of the luggage compartment
doors, open the luggage compartment doors, observe and record the leakage
inside the luggage compartment. If there is water mark on the bottom of the
luggage compartment, each place shall be treated as slow drop.
6.6 Bus leakage is recorded in Table 2.
