1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, inspection rules and test methods for the steering column upper combined switch of automobile.
This standard applies to combined switches installed on the steering column of automobiles (hereinafter referred to as "combined switches").
2 Normative references
The provisions contained in the following standards constitute provisions of this standard through quotation in this standard. At the time of publication of the standard, the edition indicated was valid. All standards will be revised; all parties using this standard shall explore the possibility of using the latest version of the following standards.

3 Definition
This standard uses the following definition:
3.1 Combined switch on the steering column
A device which is installed on the steering column of an automobile, composed of two or more switches used to control the lights, signals, electrical appliances of the automobile.
3.2 Automatic return mechanism
When the trigger of the turn signal switch is in the left (L) or right (R) position, when the steering wheel returns from the left or right position to the original position, a mechanism which automatically returns the trigger to the middle (N) position and installed in the switch.
3.3 Speed characteristics
The characteristics of automatic return mechanism which cancel the steering signal when the steering wheel returns at high speed,
3.4 Anti-interference characteristics
When the trigger of the turn signal switch is in the left gear or the right gear state, the characteristics wherein the trigger is forcibly held in the original position by external force and the steering wheel is rotated in the direction of automatic return, it can withstand this forced action.
4 Requirements
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 Structure
The combined switch shall meet the requirements of this standard and shall be manufactured in accordance with the drawings and design documents
approved by the prescribed procedures.
4.1.2 Workmanship quality
The combined switch shall have good workmanship quality; the structure shall be intact; there shall be no defective assembly such as wrong installation or missing installation. Riveting, crimping, bonding, screw connections shall be firm and free of looseness; wire brazing shall be firm and free of false welding or de-soldering. There shall be no process defects that affect performance and product standard.
The marks of the ignition switch and the steering lock shall comply with the provisions of QC/T 29029 or the product standard.
4.4 Rated load
The rated load of the combined switch shall be specified in the product standard of this type.
4.5 Environmental conditions
4.5.1 Temperature resistance
The combined switch shall be able to work normally under the condition of - 40 °C ~ 65 °C.
4.5.2 Damp heat resistance
The combined switch shall be able to withstand the alternating damp heat test at a high temperature of 40 °C and a period of 6 days. After the test, the insulation resistance shall meet the requirements of 4.11.
4.5.3 Vibration resistance
When the combined switch is tested according to the test conditions of 6.15, the contacts of the switch shall not be loose in connection. During the frequency sweep test, there shall be no displacement or jump of shift of each working gear. After the vibration test, the conversion force shall meet the requirements of 4.6.2; the voltage drop shall meet the requirements of 4.9; the insulation resistance shall meet the requirements of 4.11.
4.5.4 Salt spray resistance
After the salt spray test of the combined switch, check the switch position and insulation resistance, which shall meet the requirements of 4.6.1 and 4.11. 4.6 Action characteristics
4.6.1 Gear
The various switch positions in the combined switch shall be flexible, accurate and reliable in positioning, without looseness and blocking. The switch with automatic return mechanism shall be able to return automatically and
accurately when the external force is eliminated.
4.6.2 Conversion force
b) When major changes to the product design, process or materials used
may affect product performance;
c) Products that are not frequently produced, which are reproduced at an interval of more than one year;
d) For products produced in batches or in large quantities, once every two years;
e) When the national supervision and inspection agency requests for type inspection.
The combined switches for type inspection shall be selected from the batches of products that have passed the exit-factory inspection. A total of 9 switches shall be selected and divided into three equal groups. The inspection items and procedures shall be carried out in accordance with Table 5.
The type inspection of the combined switch must all meet the requirements. If some items are unqualified, a doubled number of products shall be re-examined for the unqualified items. If there are still unqualified items, the batch of products shall be deemed unqualified. But for the durability test, it shall not double the sampling size.
6 Test methods
6.1 Test conditions
Except for special requirements, various tests of the combined switch are carried out in a test chamber under normal environmental conditions;
The accuracy level of the voltmeter used in the test is not less than 0.5; the accuracy level of the ammeter is not less than 1.0;
Various measuring tools and equipment used for testing and inspection shall be within the valid period of qualified calibration.
6.2 Visual inspection
Visually inspect the appearance of the combined switch and it shall meet the requirements of 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.1.3, 4.1.5, 4.2, 4.3.
6.3 Inspection of appearance and installation dimensions
Use the gauges and measuring tools that meet the requirements to check the overall dimensions, installation dimensions and connection dimensions of the combined switch according to the product drawings and technical requirements. They shall meet the requirements of 4.1.4.
of 4.9.
6.11 Insulation resistance check
Use a 500 V megohmmeter to measure the insulation resistance between the open contacts of each switch and between the current-carrying components and other metal parts. The insulation resistance shall meet the requirements of 4.11.
6.12 Temperature rise test
Apply a rated load on the ignition switch in the combined switch. When the temperature of the contact reaches a stable value, if the temperature rise is not greater than 1 °C within 30 minutes, the temperature can be considered to be stable. The maximum temperature rise is measured at the terminal nearest to each contact shall not exceed the provisions of Table 2.
6.13 Temperature resistance test
6.13.1 Low temperature work and high temperature work test
Low temperature work and high temperature work test are carried out according to the following procedures and requirements:
a) Low temperature work
Place the combined switch in a low temperature chamber to reduce the
temperature to -40 °C ± 3 °C. After the temperature stabilizes, keep it warm for 30 minutes; then perform 10 full conversion operations on all switches and operating mechanisms in the chamber, which shall meet the
requirements of 4.6.1. Finally, it is restored to normal state under normal environmental conditions.
b) High temperature work
Place the combined switch in a high temperature chamber and raise the
temperature to 65 °C ± 2 °C. After the temperature stabilizes, keep it warm for 30 minutes; then perform 10 full conversion operations on all switches and operating mechanisms in the chamber, which shall meet the
requirements of 4.6.1. Finally, it is restored to normal state under normal environmental conditions.
c) Final testing
When checking the conversion force according to 6.7, it shall meet the
requirements of 4.6.2; when checking the voltage drop according to 6.10, it shall meet the requirements of 4.9; when checking the insulation
6.15.1 Sweep frequency vibration test
The combined switch is subjected to a frequency sweep test in the up and down direction according to the following conditions:
Frequency 5 Hz ~ 100 Hz; acceleration 44.1 m/s2 (amplitude below 0.4 mm); Sweep frequency 10 min (changes according to the exponential law);
sweep frequency number 1;
When there is a resonance frequency, the resonance frequency point shall be recorded.
6.15.2 Fixed frequency vibration test
6.15.2.1 When the resonance frequency does not appear in the test of 6.15.1, the fixed frequency vibration test shall be carried out according to the following conditions:
Frequency 67 Hz; acceleration 44.1 m/s2;
Vibration time: 4 h for up and down direction, 2 h for left and right direction, 2 h for front and rear direction;
In the tests in all directions, the time that the lever and handle are in the non-working position takes up 50%; the time in the working position of each gear is the remaining 50%.
6.15.2.2 When the resonance point is recorded in the test in 6.15.1, the fixed frequency vibration test shall be carried out according to the following conditions:
a) At a frequency of 67 HZ and an acceleration of 44.1 m/s2, the vibration time is: 3 h for up and down direction, 1.5 h for left and right direction, 1.5 h for front and rear direction;
b) Under the main resonance frequency and acceleration of 44.1 m/s2, the vibration time is: 1 h for up and down direction, 0.5 h for left and right direction, 0.5 h for front and rear direction.
Lever and handle position shall be as specified in 6.15.2.1.
The combined switch shall meet the requirements of 4.5.3 during the
vibration process and after the test.
6.16 Durability test
6.16.1 Test equipment
6.16.2.2 Dimmer switch
Apply the lighting load or other specified load as specified in the technical documents to the switch. Complete the number of full conversion tasks
specified in No.2 of Table 3 at a rate of 15 ~ 30 times per minute. Each full conversion number includes the following procedures:
High beam - low beam - (overtaking - low beam -) high beam
The conversion time of each gear is 0.1 s ~ 0.5 s, the stay time in each gear is not less than 0.4 s.
After the test, check the switching force according to 6.7, which shall conform to 4.6.2; check the voltage drop according to 6.10, which shall conform to 4.9; check the insulation resistance according to 6.11, which shall conform to 4.11. 6.16.2.3 Wiper switch
Apply the load specified in the technical document or simplified resistive load onto the switch; complete the number of full conversion work specified in the No.3 in Table 3 according to the following requirements.
The number of full conversion work shall include passing through each gear in turn from the starting position, stopping at each gear, then returning to the starting position without stopping.
The test equipment shall meet the following operating time requirements: a) The conversion time of each gear is 0.1 s ~ 0.5 s;
When the switch controls the rheostat, the running time from each direction through the rheostat is 0.1 s ~ 3 s;
b) The pause time in each gear is 0.5 s ~ 1 s;
When the switch controls the motor, the switch stays in the off gear for enough time to stop the motor; the pause time can be greater than the
above-mentioned specified pause time.
The wiper switch with inching wiping function shall also complete the
inching wiping function of the number of work specified in No.3 of Table 3 at the rate of 10 ~ 20 times per minute under the same load.
After the test, check the switching force according to 6.7, which shall conform to 4.6.2; check the voltage drop according to 6.10, which shall conform to 4.9; check the insulation resistance according to 6.11, which shall conform to 4.11.
