Test Method of Natural Frequency for Automobile
Wheels
1 Scope
This Document specifies the terms and definitions, test samples, test environment, test
equipment, test procedures and data processing of test method of the natural
frequency for automobile wheels under rigid constraints.
This Document is applicable to passenger car wheels.
2 Normative References
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Document
through reference in this Document. For the dated documents, only the versions with
the dates indicated are applicable to this Document; for the undated documents, only
the latest version (including all the amendments) is applicable to this Document.
GB/T 2933 Wheels/Rims for Pneumatic Tyres - Nomenclature, Designation and
Marking
3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Documents, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 2933 and
the following apply.
3.1 Disc’s primary natural frequency
The primary frequency value when the phase of the excitation point and the induction
point are opposite (the phase difference is close to 180°).
3.2 Rim’s primary natural frequency
The primary frequency value when the phase of the excitation point and the induction
point are the same (the phase difference is close to 0°).
4 Test Sample
The test sample shall be a qualified new wheel completed through all the processing
procedures.
5 Test Environment
There shall be no vibration and noise interference that affect the test in the test
environment.
6 Test Environment
6.1 Measuring meter
6.1.1 The natural frequency test adopts a vibration measuring meter, which shall
include a data acquisition system, a one-way acceleration sensor, an exciter (such as
a force hammer) and test software.
6.1.2 The data acquisition system shall have at least 3 channels, the recommended
measurement frequency range is 10Hz~5kHz; sampling frequency ≥ 10kHz, with anti-
aliasing function.
6.1.3 The recommended frequency response range of the one-way acceleration
sensor is 1 Hz~10kHz; the range is ±500g; and the sensitivity is 10mV/g.
6.2 Test bench
6.2.1 Figure 1 shows an example of a typical test bench, which is mainly composed of
an embedded fixed plate, a fixed plate and a connecting plate. The test bench shall be
fixed on the cement bench; and the embedded fixed plate shall be buried horizontally
into the cement bench.
6.2.2 It is recommended length, width, and height of the embedded fixed plate is
1000mm×1000mm×80mm; and the material shall be steel.
