Fabric softening agent
1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules,
marking, packaging, transportation, storage, shelf life of fabric softening agents
(also known as fabric conditioners).
This standard applies to washing and care products, which are used in
conjunction with detergents, in the process of fabric washing and care, to make
the fabric soft and fluffy AND eliminate static electricity.
2 Normative references

4 Test method
Unless otherwise specified, only chemical reagents, which are confirmed to be
analytically pure AND grade 3 water, which is specified in GB/T 6682, are used
in the analysis.
4.1 Appearance
Measure not less than 200 mL of the specimen. Place it in a dry, clean, colorless
wide-mouth glass bottle with a stopper. Make observation, under non-direct
light conditions.
4.2 Smell
Take an appropriate amount of specimen for identification, by smelling it.
4.3 Stability
Take 3 sets of specimens of not less than 100mL. Place them in 250mL
colorless wide-mouth glass bottles with stoppers. One set is used as a control
sample. One set is placed in an incubator at (40 ± 2)°C for 24h; make
observation, after returning to room temperature. The other set is placed in a
refrigerator at (-5 ± 2)°C for 24h; take it out; make observation after returning to
room temperature. Compare the two sets of specimens, which have returned
to room temperature, with the control specimen.
4.4 Dispersibility
Measure one set of specimen of not less than 100mL. Place it in a 250mL
colorless wide-mouth glass bottle with a stopper. Place it in a refrigerator at (-5
± 2)°C for 24h. Take it out and return to room temperature, for later use.
Weigh 0.5g of specimen (0.25g for concentrated sample), which had been
processed. Add 200mL of hard water (250mg/L) into a 300mL beaker. Place it
on the agitator. Use a standard four-blade spiral stirring paddle (as shown in
Figure 1). Make observation, after stirring at a speed of 400r/min, for 2min.
