GB/T 18253-2000 Steel and steel products - Types of inspection documents
3 General requirements
3.1 Steel sheets and coils shall be packaged neatly and bundled sturdily. The
mark writing shall be clear and shall be firmly attached. The packaging shall be
able to ensure that the product, during normal transportation and storage, is not
loose, damp, deformed, and damaged.
Note 1. It is generally believed that product packaging cannot reduce the risk of oxidation
on the surface of product. It is mainly because the current product packaging cannot fully
achieve 100% air-tight and water-tight, the product 100% surface oxidation resistance
cannot be guaranteed.
Note 2. The preconditions for packaging to provide sufficient surface protection for the
product are as follows. ① In the process of logistics, all parties shall, according to the
requirements of the specification, handle, transport, and store the product; ② The product
shall be put into use within the time specified by the standard.
Note 3. In order to avoid the loss to users caused by the oxidation of the surface of product,
users are advised to do the following. ① After the product packaging is found to be
damaged, the breakage of the packaging shall be repaired and sealed again; ② It shall try
to avoid exposing the product (including packaging) to harsh weather conditions; ③ It shall
preferentially store the product (including packaging) in temperature-controlled
warehouses, to avoid large temperature fluctuations in the warehouse, resulting in product
internal condensation; ④ After the product is partially used, the remaining product shall be
re-packaged and sealed.
3.2 Packaging materials shall comply with the relevant laws and regulations.
Note 1. All packaging materials comply with the European packaging waste directive
(1994/62/EC); and do not contain heavy metals restricted by this directive.
Note 2. In order to build a green industry chain, we will continue to reduce redundant
packaging, to minimize the amount of packaging waste.
3.3 For steel strip packaging, when performing the work of dismantling the
packaging, the purchaser shall take appropriate protective measures, to
prevent the steel strip head from ejecting and injuring people.
Note. Dismantling of product packaging is a work with a certain degree of risk. The user
must take appropriate measures, to ensure the safety of the workers and equipment
property.
3.4 A functional description of the relevant packaging components can be found
in the informative Appendix A. Under the premise of ensuring the quality of
packaging, the supplier can independently choose the appropriate packaging
components to replace the packaging components specified in this Standard.
3.5 The packaging type (mode) and packaging components of steel sheets and
coils are specified by the supplier. If the purchaser has special requirements on
the packaging components, packaging type (mode), bundle (package) weight,
etc., they shall be negotiated at the time of ordering and indicated in the contract.
4 Package of steel sheet
4.1 The packaging type and mode of steel sheet are shown in Table 1 and
Figure 1 ~ Figure 4.
4.2 For the packaging type (mode) 1~2 of cold-rolled, galvanized, and color-
coated steel sheet products, the supplier can choose to bundle without a catch.
At this time, the lock catch is cancelled.
4.3 The packaging code of steel sheet is set after the packaging components
are appropriately increased or decreased on the basis of Figure 1 ~ Figure 4.
5 Package of steel coil
5.1 The horizontal packaging type (mode) of steel coil is shown in Table 2 and
Figure 5 ~ Figure 10.
5.2 The vertical packaging type (mode) of steel coil is shown in Table 3 and
Figure 11.
