Foreword
NB/T 47018-2017 Technical Permission of Welding Materials for Pressure
Equipment can be divided into 5 Parts:
--- Part 1: General Rule;
--- Part 2: Electrodes for Steel;
--- Part 3: Steel Electrodes and Rods for Gas Shielded Arc Welding;
--- Part 4: Electrodes and Fluxes or Submerged Arc Welding;
--- Part 5: Stainless-Steel Strip Electrodes and Fluxes for Overlay Welding.
This Part is the Part 1 of NB/T 47018-2017.
This Part was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009 Directives for
Standardization – Part 1: Structure and Drafting of Standards.
This Part revised NB/T 47018.1-2011 Technical Permission of Welding Materials for
Pressure Equipment - Part 1: General Rule. Compared with NB/T 47018.1-2011, the
major technical changes of this Part are as follows:
--- Reformulate the general procurement rules, according to the requirements of
GB/T 25778-2010;
--- Make specific regulations on the use of flux-cored welding wire;
--- Adjust the maximum limit of each batch of stainless-steel electrodes; carbon steel
cores, welding wires, filler wires; low alloy steel cores, welding wires, filler wires;
stainless-steel cores, welding wires, filler wires; stainless-steel welding strips for
overlaying welding; flux for carbon steel and low alloy steel; and flux for stainless-
steel listed in Table 1;
--- Add the provisions that the post-weld state of the test pieces with the mechanical
properties of the deposited metal shall be specified, when purchasing welding
materials;
--- Change the welding electrode coating moisture detection into the diffusible
hydrogen content in the deposited metal of the welding electrode;
--- Add the bending test the inspection items of the product quality certificate.
This Part was proposed by and under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee
on Boilers and Pressure Vessels of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC

3 Basic Requirements
3.1 The purchase of welding materials for pressure equipment shall not only meet the
requirements of GB/T 25778, but also meet the requirements of this Part.
3.2 Distributors of welding materials for pressure equipment (hereinafter referred to as
distributors) shall be approved by the manufacturers of welding materials (hereinafter
referred to as manufacturers) to be trained and evaluated by the manufacturer.
3.3 The manufacturer or supplier (including distributors) shall provide the original
welding material quality certificate to the ordering organization; and the supplier
(including distributors) shall be allowed to provide copies, but which shall be stamped
with the official seal of the supplier (including distributors) and the seal of the manager.
3.4 The manufacturer shall provide the product instructions to the ordering
organization of the welding materials, including the product characteristics,
performance indicators, scope of application, storage requirements, and precautions
for use.
3.5 When domestic welding materials of steel, aluminium and titanium specified
beyond this Standard are used, the following requirements shall be met:
a) For the welding materials with the corresponding types in this Standard, but
without model (or designation), their technical requirements shall be no lower
than those of the same types of welding materials in this Standard; and shall
have basis for welding performance and engineering test;
b) For the welding materials without corresponding types in this Standard, their
technical requirements shall be in accordance with the provisions of this
Standard; and shall have basis for welding performance and engineering test;
c) Flux-cored welding wire shall be prepared technical conditions for ordering in
accordance with the technical requirements specified in NB/T 47018.2. Carbon
steel and low-alloy steel flux-cored welding wire shall be of alkaline slag system.
The ordering contract shall include specific content and inspection methods to
ensure the composition of the core, the uniformity of the core filling, as well as
the measures to ensure the diffusible hydrogen content in the deposited metal
after opening the vacuum package of the flux-cored welding wire.
