Welding specification for pressure vessels
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the basic requirements for the welding of pressure vessels made of steel, aluminum, titanium, copper, nickel and composition metal. This Standard is applicable to the pressure vessels used for gas welding, arc welding by electrodes, hidden arc welding, MIG Welding, gas tungsten-arc welding, electroslag welding, plasma arc welding, friction welding, electrogas welding and screwbolt arc welding, etc.
This Standard is not applicable to gas cylinder.

3.1 General specification
3.1.1 Besides the specifications in this Standard, the welding of pressure vessels shall also meet the technical requirements of the design document.
3.1.2 Besides the specifications in this Standard, all results that have been proofed to be valid through test research and practice, recognized by all parties and listed into the enterprise standards can be applicable to the welding of pressure vessels. 3.2 Welding materials
3.2.1 The welding materials include the welding rod, welding wire, welding strip, welding flux, gas, electrode, liner, etc.
3.2.2 Selection rules of welding materials.
a) The mechanical property of the weld metal shall be higher than or equal to the specified limit value of the parent metal; if necessary, other properties shall be not lower than relevant requirements of the parent metal; or the mechanical property and other properties shall meet the technical requirements specified in the design document;
b) The proper welding materials and reasonable welding procedure shall be adopted to ensure that the properties of welding joints can still meet the requirements specified in the design document and meet the service
requirements after the manufacturing procedure;
c) The manufacturing (installation) unit shall master the welding properties of welding materials; the welding materials used for pressure vessel shall pass the welding test or have practical basis.
3.2.3 The welding materials of pressure vessels shall conform to the specifications in NB/T 47018.
3.2.4 The welding materials shall include the product quality certificate and conform to the specifications of relevant standards. The using organization shall accept or retest the welding materials according to specifications of quality management system and relevant standards, can only use the welding materials after they are qualified. 3.3 The position of weld joint is divided into. plat weld joint, vertical weld joint, horizontal weld joint and overhead weld joint. See Annex A for the specifying method and scope of the position of weld joint.
3.4 Welding procedure qualification and welder
3.4.1 The welding procedure for all kinds of the following weld joints shall be determined qualified according to NB/T 47014.
a) Weld joint of pressure part;
rate of the transition weld joint metal.
3.5.3 See Annex B for the form and dimension of the weld groove of special material. 3.5.4 Groove preparation The groove can be manufactured through cold processing or hot processing method. If the groove is manufactured according to hot processing method, the surface layer that affects the welding quality shall be removed through cold processing method. The weld groove surface shall be smooth and tidy without crack, slice, sundries and other defects.
3.5.5 The welding equipment, heating equipment and auxiliary equipment shall be in normal operating condition, shall be safe and reliable; the instruments shall be corrected or inspected regularly.
3.5.6 Group positioning In the Group positioning process, pay attention to the protection of stainless steel and the surface of non-ferrous metal, avoid mechanical damage. After the Group positioning, the groove interval, alignment tolerance and weld joint angularity shall conform to the drawing specifications or construction requirements. Avoid assembly be force, the length and interval of the tack weld joint shall conform to the requirements in the welding technical document. If the restraint intensity of the weld joint is too large, it shall be welded with welding material with better crack resistance. There shall be no crack in the tack weld joint, otherwise, it shall be removed and the weld joint shall be welded again. The two ends of tack weld joint fusing into the permanent weld joint shall be convenient for jointing of arc, otherwise it shall be modified;
3.5.7 Preheating The preheating before the welding of pressure vessel and the preheating temperature shall be determined according to the delivery state of parent metal, chemical composition, mechanical property, welding property, thickness, restraint degree of the weldment and other factors. Besides relevant standards for the preheating temperature of the weld joint, the preheating temperature shall be determined through general welding pro...
