Scope

This standard specifies the principle requirements for the qualification and certification of industrial non-destructive testing (NDT) personnel.
Note 1. The term "industry" refers to applications outside the medical field.

The certification of this standard covers the capabilities of one or more of the following methods.
a) acoustic emission detection;
b) eddy current testing;
c) infrared thermal imaging detection;
d) leak detection (excluding hydrostatic test);
e) magnetic particle testing;
f) penetration testing;
g) radiographic testing;
h) strain detection;
i) ultrasonic testing;
j) Visual inspection (excluding direct visual inspection and visual inspection used when applying other NDT methods).
