Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules provided in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Standard serves as a replacement of GB/T 6102.2-2009 Test Method for Moisture Regain in Raw Cotton - Electrical Moisture Meter.
In comparison with GB/T 6102.2-2009, the main content of revision is as follows: ---The specific instrument measurement is classified as the principle measurement; “the test method for moisture regain in raw cotton through electrical meter” is modified into “the test method for moisture regain in raw cotton through the principle of electrical resistance method”.
---“GB 6975 Cotton Baling” is added to Normative References.
---“GB 1103” is modified into “GB 1103.1” in Normative References; “GB 1103.2” is added to Normative References.
---“GB/T 8170 Rules of Rounding off for Numerical Values & Expression and Judgement of Limiting Values” is modified in Normative References.
---The Scope of this Standard is modified into “raw cotton with moisture regain of 3% ~ 13%”.
---The definition of the measurement of moisture regain in raw cotton through the principle of the electrical resistance method is clarified. The “negative correlation” is clarified as “non-linear negative correlation”; the test condition “mass of specimen” is put into the “detection modes and requirements”; the step “perform temperature compensation” is added.
---The measurement voltage is modified from “DC (90 1) V” into “measurement voltage: less than 100 V (DC). The maximum allowable error: less than 50 V (DC), less than 4% of the rated value; 50 V ~ 100 V (DC), less than 1.5% of the rated value”. ---The “test sample” is modified into “detection modes and requirements”. In addition, “electrical meter detection: the sampling size and method shall comply with the stipulations of GB 1103.1, GB 1103.2 and GB 19635. Online device detection: applicable to Type I saw ginned cotton specified in GB 6975; in the process of baling, the bale is not opened for fixed-point inspection; the measurement depth shall be 1 cm ~ 5 cm. Insertion device detection: applicable to Type I saw ginned cotton; after bailing, the bale is not opened for fixed-point inspection; the test point shall be 10 cm ~ 15 cm inward from the outer layer of the cotton bale” is clarified.
---The “test results” is modified into “detection results”. In addition, “electrical meter detection: in accordance with the sampling size specified in GB 1103.1, GB 1103.2 and Test Method for Moisture Regain in Raw Cotton - Electrical
Resistance Meter
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the test method for moisture regain in raw cotton through the principle of the electrical resistance method.
This Standard is applicable to raw cotton with moisture regain of 3% ~ 13%. 2 Normative References

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 Moisture Weight
Moisture weight refers to the weight of raw cotton when it contains moisture. 3.2 Dry Weight
Dry weight refers to the weight of raw cotton after removing moisture through a certain method. 3.3 Moisture Regain
Moisture regain refers to the difference between the moisture weight and the dry weight of the 7 Detection Modes and Requirements
7.1 Electrical meter detection: the sampling size and method shall comply with the stipulations of GB 1103.1, GB 1103.2 and GB 19635.
7.2 Online device detection: applicable to Type I saw ginned cotton specified in GB 6975; in the process of baling, the bale is not opened for fixed-point inspection; the measurement depth shall be 1 cm ~ 5 cm.
7.3 Insertion device detection: applicable to Type I saw ginned cotton specified in GB 6975; after bailing, the bale is not opened for fixed-point inspection; the test point shall be 10 cm ~ 15 cm inward from the outer layer of the cotton bale.
8 Detection Steps
See the detection steps in Appendix A, Appendix B and Appendix C.
9 Detection Results
9.1 Electrical meter detection: in accordance with the sampling size specified in GB 1103.1, GB 1103.2 and GB 19635, perform the detection piece by piece, record the detection results, then, calculate the arithmetic mean of moisture regain of batch samples and take it as the detection result.
9.2 Online device detection: issue the detection results of moisture regain bale by bale. 9.3 Insertion device detection: for the bale-by-bale detection, issue the detection results of moisture regain bale by bale; for the detection by batches, in accordance with the sampling size specified in GB 1103.1, GB 1103.2 and GB 19635, perform the detection bale by bale, record the detection results, then, calculate the arithmetic mean of moisture regain of batch samples and take it as the detection result.
9.4 The detection results shall be rounded off to one decimal place in accordance with GB/T 8170.
