8.1 Location and Time of Inspection
8.1.1 Unless it is otherwise determined by the demand-side and the supply-side through negotiation, the location of inspection shall be at the supply-side?€?s place, and the inspection samples may be selected at the supply-side?€?s factory.
8.1.2 Unless it is otherwise determined by the demand-side and the supply-side through negotiation, the time of inspection shall be determined by the supply-side. 8.2 Rights and Responsibilities of Inspection
8.2.1 The inspection of the castings, test blocks and specimens shall be carried out by the supply-side?€?s inspection department.
8.2.2 If the supply-side does not have the necessary inspection means, or if there is a dispute between the demand-side and the supply-side regarding the quality of the castings, the inspection can be carried out by an independent third-party institution. 8.2.3 Upon agreement between the demand-side and the supply-side, representatives of the demand-side may enter the location where the castings, test blocks and specimens to be inspected are manufactured and stored, designate samples to be selected in accordance with the regulations, and participate in the sample selection, and preparation and inspection of the castings, test blocks and specimens.
8.3 Division of Inspection Batches
The division of inspection batches shall be based on one of the following three modes. The specific requirements shall be determined by the demand-side and the supply-side through negotiation and specified in the order contract. When the demand-side has no specific requirements, the supply-side may choose one of them.
a) Division of batches by heat: the castings cast from molten steel in the same smelting 8.5.1 If any of the following circumstances occurs during the properties test, the test result shall be invalid.
a) The specimen is improperly installed on the testing machine, or the testing machine is improperly operated, or the testing machine functions abnormally.
b) There are casting defects on the surface of the specimen or improper machining of the specimen (such as: specimen dimensions, transition fillet and roughness that do not comply with the requirements).
c) The specimen breaks outside the gauge length.
d) There are abnormalities, for example, casting defects, on the fracture surface of the specimen.
8.5.2 If one of the circumstances in 8.5.1 occurs, another specimen shall be taken from the same test block (casting) or another test block (casting) of the same batch for testing. The test result may replace the above invalid test result.
8.6 Chemical Composition
Each smelting furnace is considered as one batch. From each batch, take one specimen for the inspection of chemical composition. If the inspection result is disqualified, then, double sampling and re-inspection will be required. If one specimen is still disqualified, then, the batch of castings shall be considered as disqualified in chemical composition. Chip specimens shall be taken from the casting surface below 6 mm.
8.7 Hardness
8.7.1 The hardness shall be tested not less than 2 mm below the surface of the casting. When it is difficult to test hardness on the casting body, the hardness can also be tested on the cast test block attached to the casting. The hardness test surface shall be produced by machining, wire- electrode cutting or EDM technology, but the wire-electrode cutting or EDM machined surface shall also be machined to remove the heat affected zone.
8.7.2 The hardness inspection is carried out in batches. From each batch, randomly take 3 castings or their attached cast test blocks for the inspection. If one piece is disqualified, randomly take another 3 castings or their attached cast test blocks from the same batch for a re- inspection. If one piece is disqualified in hardness in the re-inspection, then, the batch of castings shall be determined as disqualified in hardness. If 2 castings or their attached cast test blocks are disqualified in hardness in the first sampling, then, the batch of castings shall be determined as disqualified in hardness.
8.7.3 When dividing batches by the number of pieces, the sampling method shall be determined by the demand-side and the supply-side through negotiation. When the hardness of the castings is disqualified, the castings and their attached cast test blocks can be re-subject to the water toughening treatment, then sampled for a re-inspection. Without the consent of the demand- side, the castings and their attached cast test blocks shall not be re-subject to the water toughening treatment more than twice. After being re-subject to the water toughening treatment, if they are qualified in the inspection, then, the batch of castings can still be determined as qualified in hardness.
8.8 Metallographic Structure
8.8.1 The metallographic structure specimens shall be taken from a location no less than 6 mm below the surface of the castings or their attached cast test blocks. The metallographic structure inspection can also be performed directly on the castings.
8.8.2 The metallographic structure inspection is carried out in batches. From each batch, take one specimen. If it fails the first inspection, take two spare metallographic specimens from the same batch for a re-inspection. If the metallographic structure of two re-inspected specimens is all qualified, then, it can still be determined that this batch of castings is qualified in the metallographic structure. During the re-inspection of superheated carbides, non-metallic inclusions and grain size, if one specimen exceeds the specified value, then, it shall be determined that this batch of castings is disqualified in superheated carbides, non-metallic inclusions and grain size in the metallographic structure. During the re-inspection of undissolved carbides or precipitated carbides, if one specimen exceeds the specified value, after the castings and their attached cast test blocks are re-subject to the water toughening treatment, conduct sampling for a re-inspection.
8.8.3 Without the consent of the demand-side, the castings and their attached cast test blocks shall not be re-subject to the water toughening treatment more than twice. After being re-subject to the water toughening treatment, if all items are qualified in the inspection, then, the batch of castings can be determined as qualified in undissolved carbides or precipitated carbides in the metallographic structure.
8.9 Tensile Properties and Impact Properties
8.9.1 The specimens used are taken from a single cast test block simultaneously cast as the casting. Alternatively, they can be taken from the casting body, or the cast test block attached to the casting.
8.9.2 The tensile test is carried out in batches. From each batch, take one specimen. If it fails in the first inspection, take two spare tensile specimens from the same batch for a re-inspection. If both specimens are qualified in the re-inspection, then, it can be determined that this batch of castings is qualified in tensile properties. If the properties of one specimen are disqualified in the re-inspection, then, the batch of castings can be determined as disqualified in tensile properties.
8.9.3 The impact test is carried out in batches. From each batch, take 3 Charpy impact specimens with U-shaped notches (the notch depth is 2 mm). The average value of the impact absorbed energy of the three specimens under the pendulum hammer blade with a radius of curvature of 2 mm shall comply with the specified value, and only one value of the three specimens is allowed to be lower than the specified value, but it shall not be lower than 70% of
