3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 5611 are applicable to this document.
4 Order Information
4.1 The demand-side should specify the material designation, supply quantity, name of casting,
delivery state, technical requirements and inspection items of austenitic manganese steel
castings (hereinafter referred to as “castings”).
4.2 The demand-side should provide order drawings and technical conditions.
4.3 When the demand-side has special requirements or other supplementary requirements, the
demand-side and the supply-side shall jointly determine through negotiation.
5 Manufacturing Process
5.1 Casting
5.1.1 Unless the demand-side has special requirements, the smelting method of alloy materials
shall be determined by the supply-side.
5.1.2 Unless the demand-side has special requirements, the casting and forming process and
method shall be determined by the supply-side.
5.2 Heat Treatment
5.2.1 The castings shall be subject to water toughening treatment (water quenching solid
solution heat treatment). During the water toughening treatment, the castings shall be evenly
heated and thermally insulated, and shall be quickly immersed in water. After the castings enter
the water, the water temperature shall not exceed 50 C.
5.2.2 When the thickness of the castings is less than 45 mm and the carbon content is lower
than 0.8%, ZG90Mn14Mo can be directly supplied without heat treatment. All other
designations of castings shall be subject to the water toughening treatment (water quenching
solid solution heat treatment). The temperature of the water toughening treatment shall not be
lower than 1,040 C.
6 Technical Requirements
6.1 General Requirements
6.1.1 The inspection items of the castings shall include: chemical composition, hardness,
surface quality, dimensional tolerance, geometrical tolerance and weight tolerance.
specimen after bending, but the specimen still remains in one piece, it is also deemed to be
qualified.
6.7 Internal Quality
The allowable range of defects and quality level inside the castings are determined by the
demand-side and the supply-side through negotiation.
6.8 Surface Quality
6.8.1 The castings shall not have cracks and casting defects that may affect the properties, such
as: cold shut, misrun, slag inclusions, sand inclusions, pores, shrinkage cavities and shrinkage
porosity, etc.
6.8.2 The pouring gates, risers, burrs, trimmings and stuck sand of the castings shall be cleanly
removed. After grinding, the remaining amount on the gates and riser roots shall comply with
the stipulations of the drawing or order contract.
6.8.3 The surface grinding (mechanical) treatment level, surface non-metallic inclusion level
and surface pore level of the castings may be determined by the demand-side and the supply-
side through negotiation in accordance with the stipulations of GB/T 39428-2020.
6.8.4 The surface roughness grade of the castings shall comply with the stipulations of the
drawing or order contract. If there is no such stipulation in the drawing or order contract, the
surface roughness value of the castings with a single-piece weight less than 1,000 kg shall
comply with the stipulations of Ra 25 m in GB/T 1031-2009, or meet the stipulations of
BM2 in GB/T 39428-2020; the surface roughness value of the castings with a single-piece
weight greater than 1,000 kg shall comply with the stipulations of Ra 100 m in GB/T 1031-
2009, or meet the stipulations of BM3 in GB/T 39428-2020.
6.9 Dimensional Tolerance, Geometrical Tolerance and Weight Tolerance
6.9.1 The dimensional tolerance, geometrical tolerance and weight tolerance of the castings
shall comply with the stipulations of the drawing or order contract. If there is no such stipulation
in the drawing or order contract, the dimensional tolerance of the castings shall comply with
DCTG12 in GB/T 6414-2017, and the geometrical tolerance of the castings shall comply with
GCTG7 in GB/T 6414-2017.
6.9.2 The weight tolerance of the castings shall comply with the stipulations of MT11 in GB/T
11351-2017.
6.10 Welding Repair
6.10.1 Defects in the castings can be repaired by welding. Before welding repair, the welding
procedure shall be evaluated. Before welding repair, the defective parts of the castings shall be
cleaned. After welding repair, the use and appearance quality of the castings shall not be
affected. Unless it is otherw...
