GB/T 5585 “Copper or aluminium and its alloy bus bars for electrical purposes”
consists of two parts:
- Part 1: Copper and copper alloy bus bars;
- Part 2: Aluminium and aluminium alloy bus bars.
This Part is Part 2 of GB/T 5585.
This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces GB/T 5585.2-2005 “Copper or aluminium and its alloy bus
bars for electrical purposes - Part 2: Aluminium and aluminium alloy bus bars”.
Compared with GB/T 5585.2-2005, the main technical changes are as follows:
- UPDATE the normative references (see Clause 2 of this Part, Clause 2 of
2005 edition);
- SPECIFY the code and product representation method (see 4.1 and 4.2 of
this Part, 3.2 and 3.3 of 2005 edition);
- MODIFY the chemical composition of aluminium and aluminium alloy bus
bars (see 5.3 of this Part, 4.3 of 2005 edition);
- ADD a note to “Table 2 -- Specifications of aluminium and aluminium alloy
bus bars” (see Table 2 of this Part, Table 1 of 2005 edition);
- SPECIFY the expression of test classification (see 8.1 of this Part, 7.1 of
2005 edition);
- MODIFY the expression of marking (see 9.3 of this Part, 8.3 of 2005 edition).

1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 5585 specifies the code and product representation method,
technical requirements, tests, delivery length and weight, acceptance rules,
product certificate and packaging, marking, transportation and storage of
aluminium and aluminium alloy bus bars for electrical purposes.
This Part applies to aluminium and aluminium alloy bus bars (also known as
aluminium and aluminium alloy bars) for electrical purposes.

which is equivalent to the chemical composition of the aluminum ingot of
designation Al 99.50 in the GB/T 1196.
For the chemical composition of aluminum alloy bus bars, it may have other
chemical elements with suitable contents besides the main element aluminum,
including silicon, magnesium, iron, etc., but the mechanical and electrical
properties of the aluminum alloy bus bars shall comply with the provisions of
this Part.
NOTE: When the factory-exit inspection items of finished aluminum and aluminum alloy bus
bars are all qualified, the chemical composition of the bus bars may not be used as an
inspection index. If the demand party has special requirements for chemical composition, it can
be specified in the order contract.
5.4 Dimensions and deviations
5.4.1 The cross-sectional dimension range of aluminium and aluminium alloy
bus bars are:
- 2.24 mm ≤ a ≤ 31.50 mm;
- 16.00 mm ≤ b ≤ 200.00 mm.
See Table 2 for specification series of aluminium and aluminium alloy bus bars.

8.2 Sampling rules
The sampling rules of products shall be determined by agreement upon the
supply and demand parties. If the demand party does not request, it is
implemented according to the provisions of the supply party.
8.3 Qualification judgment
The test results of all test items shall comply with the requirements of Table 8.
If any item of the sampling test fails, the unqualified test items shall be double-
sampled and tested. If they are still unqualified, 100 % inspection shall be
carried out, and qualified products may be delivered.
9 Product certificate and packaging, marking,
transportation and storage
9.1 Product certificate
Each package shall be accompanied by a product certificate issued by the
supply party's quality inspection department. Each batch of products shall be
accompanied by a factory-exit inspection report issued by the supply party's
quality inspection department.
9.2 Packaging
When delivered by length, they shall be packed in bundles or in boxes. When
delivered by weight, they shall be packed in coils, loops or bundles. Each
package shall be of the same model, the same specification, in rolls or in trays,
and the product shall be a whole piece.
Products shall be properly packaged, bundled in at least three places with linen
or similar materials. There shall be measures against moisture, corrosion and
mechanical damage.
9.3 Marking
Each package shall bear a label indicating:
a) manufacturer's name, trademark and address;
b) product name;

NOTE: When the factory-exit inspection items of finished aluminum and aluminum alloy bus
bars are all qualified, the chemical composition of the bus bars may not be used as an
inspection index. If the demand party has special requirements for chemical composition, it can
be specified in the order contract.
5.4 Dimensions and deviations
5.4.1 The cross-sectional dimension range of aluminium and aluminium alloy
bus bars are:
- 2.24 mm ≤ a ≤ 31.50 mm;
- 16.00 mm ≤ b ≤ 200.00 mm.
See Table 2 for specification series of aluminium and aluminium alloy bus bars.

8.2 Sampling rules
The sampling rules of products shall be determined by agreement upon the
supply and demand parties. If the demand party does not request, it is
implemented according to the provisions of the supply party.
8.3 Qualification judgment
The test results of all test items shall comply with the requirements of Table 8.
If any item of the sampling test fails, the unqualified test items shall be double-
sampled and tested. If they are still unqualified, 100 % inspection shall be
carried out, and qualified products may be delivered.
9 Product certificate and packaging, marking,
transportation and storage
9.1 Product certificate
Each package shall be accompanied by a product certificate issued by the
supply party's quality inspection department. Each batch of products shall be
accompanied by a factory-exit inspection report issued by the supply party's
quality inspection department.
9.2 Packaging
When delivered by length, they shall be packed in bundles or in boxes. When
delivered by weight, they shall be packed in coils, loops or bundles. Each
package shall be of the same model, the same specification, in rolls or in trays,
and the product shall be a whole piece.
Products shall be properly packaged, bundled in at least three places with linen
or similar materials. There shall be measures against moisture, corrosion and
mechanical damage.
9.3 Marking
Each package shall bear a label indicating:
a) manufacturer's name, trademark and address;
b) product name;
