Scope
1.1 Nominal voltage, basic system voltageRefers to the nominal voltage of the vehicle electrical system. 6 V, 12 V or 24 V.
1.2 Rated voltage
Terminal voltage during rated operation. For generators. 7 V for 6 V systems, 14 V
for 12 V systems; 28 V for 24 V systems.
1.3 Single wire system
The wiring method which uses the metal part of the car body as the electrical circuit.
1.4 Earth, ground
In the single-wire system, the product casing is connected to the vehicle body, as a
conductor of the electrical circuit.

1.5 Negative earth
The negative pole of the battery is connected to the vehicle body.
1.6 Terminal post
Threaded (or unthreaded) terminals.
