GB/T 4857.5-1992: Packaging. Transport packages. Vertical impact test method by dropping

This standard specifies the main performance requirements, test procedures, test report contents of the test equipment, which is used in the vertical impact test of the transport package. This standard applies to the assessment of the impact strength of the transport package, when subjected to vertical impact, AND the ability of the package to protect the contents. It can be used as a single test or as part of a series of tests.

This standard equivalently adopts the international standard ISO 2248-1985 "Packaging - Complete, filled transport packages - Vertical impact test by dropping". 1 Subject content and scope of application
This standard specifies the main performance requirements, test procedures, test report contents of the test equipment, which is used in the vertical impact test of the transport package.
This standard applies to the assessment of the impact strength of the transport package, when subjected to vertical impact, AND the ability of the package to protect the contents. It can be used as a single test or as part of a series of tests. 2 Normative references

3 Test principle
Lift the test sample to a predetermined height. Then let it fall freely, according to the predetermined state, to collide with the impact bench.

5.5 Selection of test strength values
Select the test strength value, according to GB/T 4857.18.
5.6 Test procedure
5.6.1 Lift the test sample to the desired drop height. Support it in a predetermined state. The difference, between the lift height and the predetermined height, shall not exceed ??2% of the predetermined height. The drop height is the distance, between the lowest point of the test sample and the impact bench, when it is ready to be released. 5.6.2 Release the test sample, according to the following predetermined state; a. When the dropping with surface downwards, the maximum angle between the dropping surface of the test sample and the horizontal surface shall not exceed 2??; b. When dropping with edge downwards, the angle, between the dropping edge and the horizontal surface, shall not exceed 2?? at most; the error of the angle, between the specified surface on the test sample and the impact bench surface, shall not exceed ??5 or 10% of the angle (whichever is larger), so that the gravity line of the test sample passes through the edge that is dropped;
c. When dropping with corner downwards, the error of the included angle, between the specified surface on the test sample and the impact bench, is not large than ??5 or 10% of the included angle (whichever is larger), so that the gravity line of the test sample passes through the edge that is dropped;
d. Regardless of the state and shape of the test sample, the gravity line of the test sample shall pass through the impact surface, line, point.
5.6.3 The difference, between the actual impact velocity and the impact velocity during free fall, shall not exceed ??1% of that during free fall.
5.6.4 After the test, check the damage of the package and contents, according to the relevant standards or requirements. Analyze the test results.
6 Test report
The test report shall include the following contents;
a. The name, specification, model, quantity, etc. of the contents;
b. The quantity of test samples,
