Scope

This Chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is REPLACED by the following.
This document specifies the safety of electric humidifiers for household and similar purposes,
with a rated voltage of no more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and no more than 480
V for other appliances.
NOTE 101.the following appliances are within the scope of application.
---appliances for atomizing water;
---appliances for evaporating water by heating;
---appliances for blowing air through a humid medium.
Humidifiers that are not intended for general household use but may still cause danger to the
public, such as humidifiers intended for use by non-professionals in shops, light industry and
farms, also fall within the scope of this document.
As far as practical matters are concerned, the common hazards of humidifiers involved in this
document are those that all people may encounter in residences and residential surroundings.
However, in general, this document does not take into account.
---The following groups (including children)
 Due to physical, sensory or mental impairments; or
 Due to lack of experience and knowledge;
The situation where they cannot safely use the appliances when unsupervised or
uninstructed.
---Children playing with the appliances.
NOTE 102.pay attention to the following situations.
---for humidifiers intended for use in vehicles, ships or aircrafts, additional
requirements may be required;
---the relevant national management departments may stipulate additional
requirements for the appliances.
NOTE 103.this document does not apply to.
---liquid heaters (IEC 60335-2-15);
---humidifiers intended for use in heating, ventilation or air conditioning systems (IEC
60335-2-88);
---medical electrical equipment (IEC 60601);
---industrial-specific equipment;
---humidifiers intended for use in special environments where corrosive or explosive
gases (such as dust, water vapor or methane) are often produced.
