This document specifies the functional safety requirements for passenger car steering system and describes the testing methods for verifying and validating the functional safety of the steering system. This document applies to the electric power steering system (hereinafter referred to as “EPS system”) installed on category M1 vehicle for controlling the lateral motion of the vehicle, also as a reference for other steering-related electrical/electronic systems.
