Scope

This document describes a method for determining the drawing and fracture properties
of thermoplastics in the molten state by measuring the melt forces developed when the
melt strand is deformed under specified extrusion temperature and traction conditions.
This document applies to thermoplastic molding and extrusion materials that have
sufficient melt strength to be extruded using a capillary rheometer or an extruder
equipped with a die or another extrusion device.
This document also applies to chemically stable thermoplastics that can be formed into
extrudates free of foreign bodies, bubbles, unmelted impurities, etc.
