Foreword
GB/T 4214 "Test method for noise of household and similar electrical
appliances" is divided into 7 parts:
- Part 1: General requirements;
- Part 2: Particular requirements for vacuum cleaners;
- Part 3: Particular requirements for dishwashers;
- Part 4: Particular requirements for washing machines and spin extractors; - Part 5: Particular requirements for electric shavers;
- Part 6: Particular requirements for electric hair care appliances;
- Part 7: Particular requirements for tumbler dryers.
This Part is Part 2 of GB/T 4214. This Part is used in conjunction with GB/T 4214.1-2017.
The portion where this Part states “Application” indicates that the corresponding provisions in GB/T 4214.1-2017 apply to this Part. For the portion where this Part states “Replacement”, the provisions in this Part shall prevail. The portion where this Part states “Addition” means that, in addition to complying with the corresponding provisions in GB/T 4214.1-2017, the subclauses added in the provisions of this Part shall also be complied with.
This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Part replaces GB/T 4214.2-2008 "Household and similar electrical
appliances - Test code for determination of airborne acoustical noise - Particular requirements for vacuum cleaners". Compared with GB/T 4214.2-2008, in
addition to editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows: - ADD test method for hard floor (see Clause 6);
- ADD values of measurement uncertainty (see 1.3);
- ADD the standard deviation for declaration and verification (see 1.101); - Modify the definition of standard test carpet (see 3.103; 3.103 of the 2008 edition).
This Part, using translation method, is identical to IEC 60704-2-1:2014 "Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise - Part 2-1: Particular requirements for vacuum cleaners".
This Part has made the following editorial change:
- In order to unify the name of this series of standards, change the name of this Part to "Test method for noise of household and similar electrical appliances - Particular requirements for vacuum cleaners".

electrical appliances - Particular requirements for
vacuum cleaners
1 Scope and object
This clause of GB/T 4214.1-2017 is applicable except as follows:
1.1 Scope
1.1.1 General
Replacement:
This Part of GB/T 4214 applies to electrical vacuum cleaners (including their accessories and their component parts) for household use in or under
conditions similar to those in households.
This Part applies as it is to electrical vacuum cleaners operating in dry conditions. Some additions and modifications for vacuum cleaners operating in wet conditions are under consideration. How to test robotic cleaners is under consideration for a future edition.
This Part does not apply to vacuum cleaners for industrial or professional purposes.
1.1.2 Types of noise
Replacement:
The methods specified in GB/T 6881.2, GB/T 6881.3 and ISO 3744 can be used for measuring noise emitted by electric vacuum cleaners.
1.1.3 Size of the source
Replacement:
The method specified in ISO 3744 is applicable to noise sources of any size. When applying GB/T 6881.2 and GB/T 6881.3, care should be taken that the maximum size of the appliance under test fulfils the requirements specified in GB/T 6881.2 and GB/T 6881.3.
