Test Method for Overall Impact Resistance of Baby Walking
Harness
1 Scope
This Document describes the principles, devices and methods of testing the overall impact
resistance of baby walking harness.
This Document applies to walking harness products made of textile fabrics as the main material.
2 Normative References
This Document does not have the normative references.
3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 Baby walking harness
Pad and strap device for supporting and protecting baby from sitting to walking independently.
3.2 Overall impact resistance
The bearing capacity of the walking harness under a certain speed and amplitude of movement
and shock when a quantitative load is applied.
3.3 Baby walking harness with top handle
The gripping part is mainly made of hard material as a top handle of baby walking harness.
NOTE: See Figure A.1 in Appendix A for the schematic diagram.
3.4 Baby walking harness with strap
The gripping part is mainly a circular baby walking harness sewn with textile fabrics.
NOTE 1: Types can be divided into single-leash baby walking harness and double-leash baby walking
harness.
NOTE 2: The schematic diagram is shown in Figure A.2.
4 Principle
Install the walking harness on the load model; lift it by pulling the belt of the walking harness;
and make the walking harness impact by reciprocating with a certain speed and frequency
within a certain stroke, so as to evaluate the overall impact resistance of the walking harness.
5 Apparatus
5.1 Impact testing machine
Baby walking harness impact testing machine shall include the following components:
a) Metal bracket: a metal bracket with a height of no less than 200cm, fixed on the ground;
b) Impact device: The impact device includes impact rods and common clamps (C-type
gripper, cylindrical gripper, telescopic gripper), which can move up and down, with a
one-way stroke of (100±2) mm; reciprocating motion of frequency of (120±5) times/min;
adding the load model of 15kg on the impact device is set as the benchmark; and the
maximum load can be 20kg after placing the counterweight;
c) Control device: It can adjust the oscillation impact rate; can set and record the number of
impact tests; and has the function of automatic shutdown when it is dropped in the middle
of the test.
5.2 Fixtures
5.2.1 C-type gripper
The gripper that is used when testing a single-leash walking harness, see Figure B.1 in
Appendix B for the schematic diagram of the gripper. The inner side of the C-type gripper shall
be lined with a soft rubber film to avoid abrasion of the specimen; and the thickness of the soft
rubber film is 1mm.
5.2.2 Cylindrical gripper
The gripper that is used when testing the double-leash walking harness, the schematic diagram
of the gripper is shown in Figure B.2.
5.2.3 Telescopic Gripper
The gripper that is used when testing the walking harness with top handle, the schematic
diagram of the gripper is shown in Figure B.3.
--- When testing the double-leash walking harness, adjust the two leashes to the maximum
length and fix them on the cylindrical gripper.
7.4 Set the frequency of the reciprocating motion of the impact testing machine to (120±5)
times/min.
7.5 Set the number of reciprocating impacts of the impact testing machine to 2500 times; take
2500 times of impact as the inspection cycle; and the total number of tests is 20000 times.
7.6 After the test, check the status of the walking harness; and its connectors, buckles, seams,
straps, fabrics and other structures shall not be damaged such as tearing, disconnection,
detachment, and damage to the fabric at the stressed part, which may affect the safety of the
baby.
7.7 In the course of the test, any damage to the walking harness product specified in 7.6, which
causes the walking harness to fall, and the instrument automatically stops. The test shall be
terminated, and the number of impacts at this time shall be recorded.
8 Test Data Processing
The results are expressed in the number of impacts:
--- The number of impacts shall be recorded according to the number of times at the end of
the test;
--- If there is any damage to the walking harness product specified in 7.6 during the test, the
damage shall be recorded;
--- If the walking harness does not have any damage specified in 7.6 until 20000 times of
impacts, record the number of impacts as " >20,000";
--- The test unit is (times), and the result is reserved as an integer.
9 Test Report
The test report shall include the following:
a) this Document number;
b) Sample name, serial number, type, manufacturer (or trademark), production date;
c) instrument model and test conditions;
d) number of specimens;
