Foreword
This Part of GB/T 3903 identically adopts the International Standard ISO
18896.2006 Footwear - Test methods for shanks - Longitudinal stiffness
(English version).
For easy use, this Part makes the following editorial modifications.
a) modified “this International Standard” to “this Part”;
b) deleted the foreword of 18896.2006;
c) deleted the table of contents of ISO 18896.2006;
d) directly used a national standard as reference which is corresponding to
the International standard that was used as reference in ISO 18896.2006;
e) deleted the informative appendix A of ISO 18896.2006.
This Part was proposed by China Light Industry Association.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on
Footwear of Standardization Administration of China.

Longitudinal stiffness
1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 3903 specifies a method for assessing the stiffness in the
longitudinal direction of steel shanks used for the reinforcement of the waist
region of women's shoes and of some men’s and children's shoes.
This Part is applicable to shanks of each kind of footwear.
2 Normative references
The following standards contain the provisions which, through reference in this
Part of GB/T 3903, constitute the provisions of this Part. For dated references,
subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to
this Part. However, the parties who enter into agreement based on this Part are
encouraged to investigate whether the latest versions of these documents are
applicable. For undated reference documents, the latest versions apply to this
Part.
