Sorting quality requirement for waste composite
package
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the sorting, grading quality requirements, sampling and
testing methods of waste composite package.
This Standard applies to paper-based waste composite package, plastic-based
waste composite package and metal-based waste composite package, other
than hazardous waste and medical waste. Other waste composite packages
can be implemented with reference to this Standard.
2 Normative references
The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document.
For dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For
undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this
document.
GB/T 4122.1, Packaging terms - Part 1: Basic
GB 8978, Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standard
GB/T 13393, Guide to acceptance sampling inspection
3 Terms and definitions
Terms and definitions determined by GB/T 4122.1 and the following ones are
applicable to this document.
3.1 Waste composite package
The package, that loses the use function or does not meet the product standard
in the process of production and use, which is made of a material among paper,
plastic, and metal, as the basic structure, and processed with other materials
through a composite process.
Note: Including multi-material packaging waste that is generated during the
production process, defective products and multi-material packaging
waste after use.
3.2 Carried-waste content
The percentage of carried-wastes, such as ceramics, glass, cement blocks,
stones, sand, and food residues, in the mass of waste composite package.
4 Sorting
4.1 The carried-wastes in the waste composite package shall be sorted, so as
to ensure the purity of the materials that are obtained from recycling.
4.2 Classification and sorting shall be carried out according to the main
components of waste composite package materials. See Appendix A for the
categories, components and examples of waste composite package.
4.3 The waste composite package shall not be mixed with hazardous waste,
medical waste, heavy metal compounds and other carried wastes.
4.4 Automatic sorting equipment, such as magnetic sorting, gravity sorting, and
photoelectric sorting, should be used during the sorting process.
4.5 The sorting personnel shall be equipped with necessary safety protection
products, such as protective gloves, dust masks and work clothes.
4.6 The solid waste which is generated during the sorting process shall be
handed over to an organization that is equipped with relevant qualifications for
disposal.
4.7 The waste water from sorting operations shall be collected for treatment.
Separate treatment or centralized treatment shall be selected according to the
condition of the pollutants. Wastewater discharge shall meet the requirements
of GB 8978 or local water pollutant discharge standards. High-efficiency,
energy-saving and environmentally friendly sludge treatment processes should
be used; otherwise, it should be handed over to a qualified waste treatment
organization to realize the harmless treatment of sludge.
5 Grading quality requirements
See Table 1 for the grading indexes and quality requirements of waste
composite package.
