Foreword
GB/T 3880 "Wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy plates, sheets and strips
for general engineering" is divided into the following 3 parts.
- Part 1. Technical conditions of delivery;
- Part 2. Mechanical properties;
- Part 3. Tolerances on forms and dimensions.
This Part is the first part of GB/T 3880.
This Part was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces GB/T 3880.1-2006 "Wrought Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy
Plates, Sheets and Strips for General Engineering - Part 1. Technical
Conditions of Delivery".
Compared with GB/T 3880.1-2006, the main technical changes are as follows.
- Add 31 alloy designations in total - 1070A, 1080A, 2017A, 2A12, 2A14,
2014A, 2E12 (previous. 2524), 2219, 3103, 3A21, 4006 , 4007, 4015,
5A02, 5005A, 5040, 5049, 5449 , 5050, 5251, 5154A, 5754, 5454, 5383,
6016, 7A04, 7A09, 7020, 7021, 7022, 7475, 8011 and 8079.
- The maximum thickness is expanded from 150 mm to 250 mm;
- The maximum width is expanded from 2500 mm to 3500 mm;
- Change the maximum thickness of cold-rolled plates, sheets and strips
to 6 mm;
- Add requirements for conductivity;
- Add requirements for stress corrosion resistance;
- Add requirements for exfoliation corrosion resistance;
- Add requirements for fracture toughness;
- Add requirements for corrosion resistance to fatigue;
- Add requirements for macrostructure.
This Part uses redrafting method to modify and adopt EN 485-1.2008
"Aluminium and aluminium alloys - Sheet, strip and plate - Part 1. Technical
conditions for inspection and delivery", and it is non-equivalent with EN 485-
1.2008.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Standardization Technical
Committee on Nonferrous Metals (SAC/TC 243).

1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 3880 specifies the technical conditions of delivery, test
methods, inspection rules and marks, packaging, transport, storage, quality
certificate and purchase order (or contract) for wrought aluminium and
aluminium alloy plates, sheets and strips for general engineering.
This Part is applicable to wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy plates for
general engineering (hereinafter referred to as plates), AND wrought aluminium
and aluminium sheets and strips (hereinafter referred to as sheets and strips).

3.1.1 Aluminum or aluminum alloy category
Aluminum and aluminum alloy are divided into Category A and Category B,
shown in Table 1.

3.1.3 Designation, state and size
Designations of plates, sheets and strips; category, state and thickness of
corresponding aluminum or aluminum alloys shall comply with the provisions in
Table 3. The thickness corresponding to the width and length shall comply with
the provisions in Table 4. When plates, sheets and strips OF other designations,
state and size are required, it shall be indicated in the purchase order (or
contract) after agreed upon by the seller and the buyer.

3.1.3 Designation, state and size
Designations of plates, sheets and strips; category, state and thickness of
corresponding aluminum or aluminum alloys shall comply with the provisions in
Table 3. The thickness corresponding to the width and length shall comply with
the provisions in Table 4. When plates, sheets and strips OF other designations,
state and size are required, it shall be indicated in the purchase order (or

Foreword
GB/T 3880 "Wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy plates, sheets and strips
for general engineering" is divided into the following 3 parts.
- Part 1. Technical conditions of delivery;
- Part 2. Mechanical properties;
- Part 3. Tolerances on forms and dimensions.
This Part is the first part of GB/T 3880.
This Part was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces GB/T 3880.1-2006 "Wrought Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy
Plates, Sheets and Strips for General Engineering - Part 1. Technical
Conditions of Delivery".
Compared with GB/T 3880.1-2006, the main technical changes are as follows.
- Add 31 alloy designations in total - 1070A, 1080A, 2017A, 2A12, 2A14,
2014A, 2E12 (previous. 2524), 2219, 3103, 3A21, 4006 , 4007, 4015,
5A02, 5005A, 5040, 5049, 5449 , 5050, 5251, 5154A, 5754, 5454, 5383,
6016, 7A04, 7A09, 7020, 7021, 7022, 7475, 8011 and 8079.
- The maximum thickness is expanded from 150 mm to 250 mm;
- The maximum width is expanded from 2500 mm to 3500 mm;
- Change the maximum thickness of cold-rolled plates, sheets and strips
to 6 mm;
- Add requirements for conductivity;
- Add requirements for stress corrosion resistance;
- Add requirements for exfoliation corrosion resistance;
- Add requirements for fracture toughness;
- Add requirements for corrosion resistance to fatigue;
- Add requirements for macrostructure.
This Part uses redrafting method to modify and adopt EN 485-1.2008
"Aluminium and aluminium alloys - Sheet, strip and plate - Part 1. Technical
conditions for inspection and delivery", and it is non-equivalent with EN 485-
1.2008.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Standardization Technical
Committee on Nonferrous Metals (SAC/TC 243).

1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 3880 specifies the technical conditions of delivery, test
methods, inspection rules and marks, packaging, transport, storage, quality
certificate and purchase order (or contract) for wrought aluminium and
aluminium alloy plates, sheets and strips for general engineering.
This Part is applicable to wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy plates for
general engineering (hereinafter referred to as plates), AND wrought aluminium
and aluminium sheets and strips (hereinafter referred to as sheets and strips).
