Electrical control assemblies
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, conditions of use, basic requirements
for design, manufacture, testing of electrical control assembly.
This standard applies to electrical control assembly (hereinafter referred to as electrical
control assembly or equipment), which has a rated voltage of not more than 1000 V AC
or a rated voltage of not more than 1500 V DC.
This standard applies to electrical control assembly with or without electronic devices.
2 Normative references
The following documents are essential to the application of this document. For the dated
documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this document;
for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) is
applicable to this standard.

shall be clearly specified in the relevant product technical documents. Electrical
performance verification shall be carried out in accordance with 7.12.
6.1.3 Load level
The load level of the equipment shall be selected in accordance with GB/T 3859.1; it
may also be specified separately in the product technical documents.
6.1.4 Noise
The noise generated by the equipment during normal operation shall be no more than
70 dB (A sound level), when measured by a sound level meter.
Note: For equipment that does not require frequent operation and monitoring, the noise value
can be higher than the above value after agreement between the manufacturer and the user.
Noise verification shall be carried out in accordance with 7.16.
6.2 Strength of materials and components
6.2.1 General requirements
Electrical control assembly shall be made of materials that can withstand mechanical
stress, electrical stress, thermal stress, environmental pressure generated under
specified conditions of use.
The shape of the housing of the electrical control assembly shall be adapted to its
purpose; the dimensions shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 3047.1. The housing
of the electrical control assembly can be made of different materials, such as: insulating,
metal or a combination of these materials. Anti-loosening measures shall be taken at
each fastening point.
The installation dimensions of the foundation fixing installation holes of the electrical
control assembly shall meet the requirements of the product manufacturing drawings.
The door of the cabinet (table) shall be able to be opened and closed flexibly within an
angle of not less than 90°.
6.2.2 Corrosion protection
Considering the normal use conditions (see 5.1), in order to ensure corrosion protection,
the electrical control assembly shall be made of suitable materials or coated with
protective layers on the exposed surfaces. All ferrous metal parts shall have reliable
protective layers. Corrosion resistance shall be verified according to 7.3.1.
6.2.3 Insulating material properties
6.2.3.1 Thermal stability
For the housing or housing parts of insulating materials, the thermal stability shall be
verified according to 7.3.2.
6.2.3.2 Heat and fire resistance of insulating materials
The original manufacturer shall select insulating materials either by reference to the
insulation temperature index (for example, determined by the method of IEC 60216) or
in accordance with the provisions of IEC 60085.
Insulating materials for parts necessary to fix and maintain current-carrying parts in the
normal use position and parts exposed to thermal stress due to internal electrical effects
shall not be subject to the harmful effects of abnormal heating and fire, as the loss of
insulating parts may affect the safety of the electrical control assembly; it shall be
verified by the glow wire test in 7.3.2. When performing this test, the protective earthing
(PE) is not considered as a current-carrying part.
For small parts (surface area dimensions not exceeding 14 mm × 14 mm), alternative
test methods may be used (e.g. needle flame test according to GB/T 5169.5). The same
steps can be applied, when the metal material of the component is larger than the
insulating material.
6.2.4 Resistance to ultraviolet radiation
For housings and housing parts made of insulating materials for outdoor use, ultraviolet
radiation resistance shall be verified in accordance with 7.3.3.
6.2.5 Mechanical strength
All housings or partitions, including door locking devices and hinges, shall have
sufficient mechanical strength, to withstand the stresses encountered in normal use and
short-circuit conditions.
The mechanical operation of movable part...
