Non-destructive testing - Test method for measuring
the maximum detectable steel thickness by industrial
computed tomography (CT)
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the test method for measuring the maximum detectable
steel thickness by industrial computed tomography (CT).
This Standard is applicable to the test for measuring the maximum detectable
steel thickness indicator of industrial CT system of which the radian energy is
225 keV and above.

this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated
references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any
amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T
12604.2 and GB/T 34365 as well as the following apply.
3.1 the maximum detectable steel thickness
For a specific CT system, under certain conditions such as scanning and
detectable steel thickness indicator of the system is better than the outer
diameter size of phantom round disc.
5.3 Guideline
Under specified spatial resolution conditions, when R=10% and CNR=3, the
outer diameter size of round disc of tested phantom is defined as the maximum
detectable steel thickness. This thickness value usually requires multiple testing
of fitting curves. To simplify testing, it usually regards the outer diameter size of
round disc of testable maximum phantom as the maximum detectable steel
thickness under specified spatial resolution conditions, when R≥10% and
CNR≥3.
6 Testing record and report
6.1 Testing record
6.1.1 Testing record usually shall contain detailed records such as standard test
piece name, test purpose, test equipment, ray source parameters, scanning
mode, slice thickness, slice position, scanning time, field of view diameter,
image matrix, reconstruction parameters, image description, evaluation criteria,
tester, reviewer, test date.
6.1.2 Image data file shall generally include image number, standard test piece
name, test purpose, test equipment, ray source parameters, scanning mode,
slice thickness, slice position, scanning time, field of view diameter, image
matrix, reconstruction parameters, etc.
6.2 Testing report

equipment, test method, slice thickness, slice position, image matrix, test image,
evaluation standard, evaluation result, tester, reviewer, approver, test date,
report date.
