Scope

This Standard specifies the high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method
and its mass spectrometry confirmation method for the determination of 13 kinds of
prohibited colourants in cosmetics (Acid Yellow 36, Acid Violet 49, Pigment Red 53,
Solvent Red 49, Basic Violet 1, Disperse Yellow 3, Basic Violet 3, Pigment Orange 5,
Sudan I, Sudan Ⅱ, Solvent Blue 35, Sudan IV, and Basic Violet 10).
This Standard applies to the quantitative determination of 13 kinds of prohibited
colourants in lipsticks and other wax-based cosmetics, as well as nail polishes, and
powders.
The detection-limit and quantitation-limit for the 13 kinds of prohibited colourants in
this Standard are shown in Table A.1.
