Foreword
This standard replaces GB/T 3199-1996 "Wrought aluminum and aluminum alloy
products - Packing, marking, transporting and storing".
Compared with GB/T 3199-1996, this standard has the following main changes:
- MODIFY the aluminum packaging method, describing in detail of each packaging
method and providing a structural diagram;
- ADD the quality requirements for aluminum surface film;
- ADD the inspection and quarantine requirements for export wooden packaging
boxes;
- ADD the requirements for adding protective iron angles at the lifting position and
bundling products with plastic steel strip (or adding protective materials at the
contact between steel buckles and products);
- ADD the types of packaging materials, as well as the requirements for their
recyclability and degradability;
- ADD the moisture content requirements of anti-rust oil;
- CANCEL the requirements for anti-rust oiling using a mixture of industrial vaseline
and machine oil.
This standard was proposed by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
This standard shall be under the jurisdiction and interpretation of the National Technical
Committee for Standardization of Nonferrous Metals.

Wrought aluminum and aluminum alloy products - Packing,
marking, transporting and storing
1 Scope
This standard specifies the packaging, marking, transportation, storage of aluminum
and aluminum alloy processed products.
This standard applies to aluminum and aluminum alloy processed products: plates,
strips, foils, tubes, bars, profiles, wires, forgings, powder materials.

3 General rules for packaging
3.1 Requirements for packaging boxes, racks, pallets
3.1.1 Packaging boxes, racks, pallets can be made of wood, metal or other materials.
They must be strong enough and the products cannot be damaged due to their damage.
3.1.2 The size of packaging boxes, racks, pallets shall meet the product size
requirements, to ensure that the product does not move or collapse in the box. When
shipping in containers, the size matching shall also be considered.
3.1.3 The distance of the reinforcing belts of packaging boxes, racks, pallets shall not
only meet the sturdiness requirements of packaging boxes, racks, pallets, but also meet
the operation requirements of cranes and forklifts.
3.1.4 When making wooden packaging boxes, racks, pallets, the nails shall be arranged
in a stepping shape; the nail caps shall be pressed against each other; the nail tips shall
be turned upside down; there shall be no nailing or missing nails. The lifting protection
iron angle should be nailed at the lifting position.
3.1.5 When making metal packaging boxes, racks, pallets, they shall be welded (riveted)
firmly; there shall be no missing welding (rivets); weld scars (rivets) shall be polished
and aluminum shall not be damaged.
3.1.6 All kinds of packaging boxes, racks, pallets shall be neat, clean, dry.
3.2 Requirements for packaging materials
3.2.1 The main packaging materials are paper, wood, metal, plastic, composite materials,
hemp, etc. All packaging materials shall meet environmental protection requirements
and be recyclable, regenerated or degradable.
3.2.2 The water solubility of packaging materials in direct contact with aluminum shall
be neutral or weakly acidic, which has a moisture content of paper ≤ 10% and a moisture
content of wood ≤ 20%.
3.2.3 The wood used to make export packaging boxes shall be chemically fumigated,
heat treated at high temperature or other treatments; no residual bark is allowed on the
wood.
3.2.4 The glue used for the protective film shall match the surface state of the aluminum;
no chemical reaction or glue transfer shall occur.
3.3 Other requirements
3.3.1 Steel straps or plastic steel straps are used for packaging and bundling. The quality
of steel straps shall meet the requirements of standard YB/T 025. When using steel
straps, protective materials shall be placed at the corners or steel buckles where the steel
straps are in direct contact with the product.
3.3.2 The specific packaging method and handling method of the product shall meet the
requirements of the corresponding product standards or user requirements.
4 Packaging method
4.1 Plate packaging method
4.1.1 Buckle-down type, ordinary box type, plywood type, protective corner type
4.1.1.1 The packaging structure diagrams of buckle-down type, ordinary box type,
4.3.6.1 The schematic diagram of the horizontal buckle-down packaging structure is as
shown in Figure 8.
4.3.6.2 When the aluminum foil roll adopts horizontal buckle-down packaging, a layer
of neutral (or weakly acidic) moisture-proof paper or other moisture-proof material and
a layer of plastic film are wrapped around the aluminum foil roll. After a desiccant is
placed in the roll core, the plastic film is sealed with adhesive tape. The aluminum foil
roll is placed horizontally in the packaging box or multiple rolls are overlapped and
placed in the packaging box according to the above requirements. Add cover and seal
the box.
4.3.7 Horizontal “well” frame type
4.3.7.1 The schematic diagram of the packaging structure of the horizontal “well” frame
type is as shown in Figure 9.
4.3.7.2 When the horizontal “well” frame type is packaged, a layer of neutral (or weakly
acidic) moisture-proof paper and a layer of plastic film are wrapped around the
aluminum foil roll; place a desiccant inside the roll core; seal the plastic film with
adhesive tape; wrap the outermost with cardboard (fiberboard); fix the aluminum foil
roll on the horizontal “well” frame with a...
