Scope

This Part of GB/T 3098 specifies the mechanical and physical properties of bolts,
screws and studs manufactured from alloy steel when tested at ambient temperatures of
10 °C ~ 35 °C. Fasteners that meet the requirements of this Part within this ambient
temperature range may also fail to achieve the specified mechanical and physical
properties when outside this ambient temperature range.
Note 1: The applicable use temperature of the fasteners produced according to this Part is -
50 °C ~ +150 °C. When the use temperature exceeds -50 °C ~ +150 °C, or even as high as
+300 °C, the user needs to consult the relevant parties.
Note 2: For the selection and application of low-temperature and high-temperature steels, please
refer to GB/T 150.2, EN 10269, ASTM F2281, ASTM A320/A320M.
Note 3: This Part is not applicable to some fasteners that may not meet the tensile or torque
requirements of this Part due to the small head shear area due to the head geometry.
Fasteners to which this Part applies:
a) Manufactured from alloy steel;
b) Ordinary threads in accordance with GB/T 192;
c) Performance grade 8.8, 10.9, coarse thread M42 ~ M68, fine thread M45×3 ~
M72×6;
d) Combination of diameter and pitch in accordance with GB/T 193;
e) Comply with the tolerances specified in GB/T 197 and GB/T 9145.
The following performance requirements are not specified in this Part:
- Solderability;
- Corrosion resistance;
- Resistance to shear stress;
- Torque-clamping force performance;
