Foreword
GB/T 3074 "Method for the determination of graphite electrodes" is divided into 5 parts.
- Method for the determination of the flexure strength of graphite electrodes; - Method for the determination of the flexure strength of graphite electrodes; - Method for the determination of the oxidation resistance of graphite
electrodes;
- Method for the determination of the coefficient of thermal expansion of graphite electrodes;
- Method for sample preparation for the determination of the coefficient thermal expansion (CTE) of petroleum coke for graphite electrodes.
This Part is Part 1 of GB/T 3074.
This Part replaces GB/T 3074.1-1982 "Determination of flexural strength of graphite electrodes".
Compared with GB/T 3074.1-1982, the main changes of this Part are as
follows.
- ADD articles of scope, normative references, and principle;
- ADD measurement requirements for electrodes with specifications of
above ??500 mm;
- DELETE article of definition;
- The flexural strength unit in calculation formula is changed to MPa.
This Part was proposed by China Iron and Steel Association.
This Part is under the jurisdiction of Metallurgical Industry Information Standards Institute.

1 Scope
This Part specifies the measurement principle, instruments and equipment, samples, test procedure, and result calculation for flexure strength of graphite electrodes.
This Part applies to the measurement of graphite electrodes?€? flexure strength at room temperature.

3 Principle
Flexure strength is a measure of the material that can withstand the maximum load of the external forces bent. Its value is the normal stress on cross section, when the sample is bent and fractured.

Calculation result shall retain 1 decimal digit. The value shall be rounded according to the provisions of GB/T 8170.
8 Test report
The test report shall include the following content.
a) Commissioned organization;
b) Sample name;

d) Test result;
e) Test organization;
f) Test personnel;
g) Test date.
