Textiles – Quantitative Chemical Analysis – Part 23.
Mixtures of Polyethylene and Polypropylene (Method
Using Cyclohexanone)
1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 2910 specifies method using cyclohexanone to determine, after
removing the non-fibrous substances, the content of polyethylene fiber.
This Part is only applicable to the mixtures of polyethylene and polypropylene blend
fiber.
2 Normative References
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Part through
reference in this Part of GB/T 2910. For dated references, the subsequent
amendments (excluding corrigendum) or revisions do not apply to this Part, however,
parties who reach an agreement based on this Part are encouraged to study if the

of Testing (GB/T 2910.1-2009, ISO 1833-1.2006, IDT)
3 Principles
Use cyclohexanone to dissolve and remove the polypropylene fiber from the mixture
with the known dry mass. Collect the residues, clean, dry and weigh; use the modified
mass to calculate its mass percentage in the dry mass of mixture. The mass fraction
of polypropylene fiber can be obtained from the difference above.
4 Reagents
Use the reagents specified in GB/T 2910.1 and this Part.
4.1 Cyclohexanone. boiling point of 156°C.
