Foreword
This Standard is drafted according to the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard was proposed by China National Light Industry Council.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of Paper Products Subcommittee of
National Technical Committee (SAC/TC 397/SC 3) on Food Direct-contact
Materials of Standardization Administration of China.
The responsible drafting organizations of this Standard. China Pulping and
Papermaking Research Institute, Nanda Zhejiang EP Technology Group Co., Ltd.,
and National Paper Quality Supervision Inspection Center.

Paper cup
1 Scope
This standard specifies paper cup’s classification, requirements, test method,
inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage.
This standard applies to various paper cups covered with paraffin wax,
polyethylene film, etc. that are used to contain various cold and hot drinks and ice
cream.
2 Normative references

document when they are quoted herein. For the dated documents so quoted, all
the modifications (Including all corrections) or revisions made thereafter shall be
applicable to this document.
GB/T 2828.1 Sampling procedures for inspection by attributes - Part 1.

standard. In the event of raising an objection against quality of products of the lot,
the demander shall notify the supplier for joint sampling to re-inspect within 3
months after arrival of goods. If it meets the standard or contract requirements,
then this lot is deemed to be acceptable and it shall be handled by the demander.
If it does not meet the requirements of this standard or contract requirements, then
this lot is deemed to be unacceptable and it shall be handled by the supplier.
6.6 Type inspection items refer to all inspection items in this standard. Type
inspection shall be carried out for one of the following circumstances.
a) Trial identification of transfer production of new product or old product;
b) After formal production, when there is change in production process or the
use of new raw material which may affect product performance;
c) During normal production, type inspection shall be carried out at least once
per quarter.
d) When production is resumed after production is shutdown for more than 3
months;
e) When ex-factory inspection results are significantly different from the last
type inspection.
7 Marking, packaging, transportation and storage
7.1 Paper cup marking and packaging shall be according to GB/T 10342 or the
contract’s provisions.
7.2 All packaging materials of paper cup shall have sufficient tightness and
firmness to ensure that water cups are not contaminated under normal conditions
of transport and storage. Paper cup shall be dust-proof, damp-proof or
mildew-proof. Packaging material that directly contacts with product shall be
non-toxic, harmless and clean.
7.3 Avoid heavy-pressure and falling during the transport process; avoid transport
at high temperature as much as possible.
7.4 Store in warehouse that is ventilated, dry, free of chemicals and toxic or
harmless items.

National Standard No.1 Modification Sheet (Corrigendum)
This modified sheet was approved by the National Standardization Management
Committee on March 26, 2014. It shall be implemented from March 31, 2014.
1. In clause 4.1, add “Note 1. For ice cream cup, it may not need to implement the
provisions – ‘there shall be no printing within 15mm from cup rim to cup body; and
within 10mm from cup bottom to cup body’. Note 2. Volume marked line of which
the total length does not exceed 10mm may be printed within 15mm from cup rim
to cup body”.
2. Revise the clause 7.1 to be “sales packaging marks and transport packaging
marks of paper cup shall include the following contents or follow the contract’s
provisions.
— Basic content of product sales packaging marks includes. Product name,
trademark, executive standard number, production date and shelf life or
batch number and expiration date, product type, specifications, quality
grade, product quantity, product conformity mark, name and address of
manufacturing enterprise (or agents), and other items that are required to
label;
— Basic content of product transport packaging marks include. Product
name, trademark, product specifications, logos of packaging, storage and
transport, and other marks”.
