Scope

This Standard specifies the acceptance levels indicated in penetrant testing of metal
welds with deficient surface opening.
This Standard shall mainly be applied to manufacturing inspection. If it is considered
as applicable, this Standard can also be applied to in-service inspection.
In this Standard, the acceptance levels are based on the adoption of the method
stipulated in GB/T 18851.1 and the attainable testing capability based on the
parameters recommended in Appendix A. Acceptance levels are related with welding
standards, adopted standards, technical conditions or laws and regulations. More
information regarding the indicated acceptance levels can be inquired from product or
application standards.
