Diatomite filter aid for industrial
1 Scope
This Standard specifies terms and definitions, classification and marking, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marks, package, transport and storage of diatomite filter aid for industrial.
This Standard is applicable to diatomite filter aid for industrial of which the main raw material is diatomite and is made by calcination or flux calcination. 2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
JC/T 414 Diatomite
3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this Standard.
3.1 Permeability
The volume of filtrate per filter cake thickness of per filter area at per unit time when filtrate viscosity is 1 cP and filtration layer pressure is 101325 Pa. 3.2 Calcined diatomite
The product that is made of diatomite by calcination at 650??C ~ 1000??C, grinding and classification.
3.3 Flux calcined diatomite
The product that is made of diatomite by adding appropriate amount of flux after calcination at 650??C ~ 1000??C, grinding and classification.
Moisture / % ???3.0
Water soluble / % ???0.8
pH value (10% water
slurry value) 5.5~11.0
Tap density /(g/cm3) ???0.53
SiO2 / % ???85.0 ???80.0 ???75.0
Other chemical Determined by the seller and the buyer after negotiation 6 Test methods
6.1 Inspection of microstructure
6.1.1 Apparatus
Microscope. 20 (Objective lens) ?? 10 (Eye lens)
6.1.2 Test procedures
Drop a drop of distilled water on a microscope slide. Add microscale of sample. Cover the cover slide. Place it under microscope to observe. Conduct image processing when necessary.
6.2 Determination of permeability
6.2.1 Apparatus
Requirements are as follows.
a) Pressure measuring equipment. U type pressure gauge (measuring range is 1000 Pa) or vacuum gauge (measuring range is 0~0.01 MPa).
b) Vacuum pump. measuring range is (0~0.01) MPa.
c) Regulator bottle. volume is about 10 L.
d) Test bottle. the fine neck diameter of #1 and #2 test bottles shall be 20 mm; fine neck height of #1 test bottle shall not be less than 50 mm. There shall be graduation from the bottom and division value shall not be greater than 1 mm. Fine neck outlet under the flange shall be (30~50) mm lower
than horizontal branch pipe, so as to prevent filtrate from being pumped into regulator bottle.
e) Balance. inductance is 0.1 g.
f) Stopwatch. accuracy is 0.1 s.
distilled water along the sidewall of #1 test bottle (do not directly pour the distilled water on filter cake). Filter it under a vacuum of 7600Pa ?? 100Pa and the filtrate volume shall be approximately 40 mL. Accurately record the corresponding filter time t and filtrate volume V.
6.2.2.5 Repeat 6.2.2.4 and take the average of 3 times to calculate filtrate flow Q (Q = V/t).
6.2.2.6 Accurately determine the thickness of filter cake.
6.2.2.7 Determine the temperature of distilled water during the test, and read corresponding viscosity value by referring to Appendix A.
6.2.3 Results calculation
Calculate permeability according to equation (1).
Where,
k - Permeability, in darcy;
A - Filter area, in square centimeter (cm2);
Q - Filtrate flow (average of three test results), Q=V/t, in milliliter per second (mL/s); t - Filtration time, in second (s);
V - Filtrate volume in filtration time t, in milliliter (mL);
?? - Coefficient of viscosity, in centipoise (cP);
h - Filter cake thickness, in centimeter (cm);
P - Degree of vacuum, in pascal (Pa).
6.3 Determination of moisture
Conduct according to JC/T 414.
6.4 Determination of water soluble
6.4.1 Weigh about 5 g (make it accurate to 0.01 g) of sample and place it into a dried 150 mL conical flask. Accurately add 50.00 mL distilled or deionized water (pH value is 5.5 ~ 7.2). Mix well. Heat and boil it for 30 min. Stir it 7 Inspection rules
7.1 Inspection classification
7.1.1 Factory inspection
Factory inspection items are permeability, moisture and tap density.
7.1.2 Type inspection
Type inspection items include all requirements in Clause 5.
Type inspection shall be conducted for one of the following situations. a) When new products are put into production or identification of stereotype; b) When great changes in raw material or technique that that may affect product quality;
c) When factory inspection results are quite different from the ones of last type inspection;
d) When production is resumed after it is stopped for more than 3 months; e) Conduct once every 6 months during normal production.
7.2 Batching principle
Every 500 t of diatomite filter aid for industrial of same category, same grade and in continuous production shall be one batch. If it were less than 500 t, it shall be regarded as one batch.
7.3 Sampling method
Regard bag as sampling unit. Use equidistant sampling. take one bag from every n-1 bag (n=N/20; N is the total number of bags of this batch of products, n takes integer). Use closable sampling probe to take about 100 g of sample in this bag. Mix it to mixed sample. When batch quantity is less than 200 bags, appropriately increase sample amount of each bag, so as to make the total sample amount not less than 1 kg.
7.4 Sample storage
After completely mixing, the collected sample shall be divided into two portions by coning and quartering. Respectively place them into clean and dry wild- mouth jars. Cover the caps and label them (date of sampling, sampling person, manufacturer?€?s name, factory lot and batch number and batch shall be indicated Appendix A
