Scope

This document specifies a method for the determination of tryptamine, phenethylamine,
putrescine, cadaverine, histamine, octopamine, tyramine, spermidine, and spermine in animal-
derived feed ingredients using high performance liquid chromatography.
This document is applicable to the determination of nine biogenic amines—tryptamine,
phenethylamine, putrescine, cadaverine, histamine, octopamine, tyramine, spermidine, and
spermine—in animal-derived feed ingredients such as fish meal, shrimp meal, chicken meal,
pork meal, meat and bone meal, blood meal, feather meal, fish solubles, squid paste, and
silkworm pupa meal.
In this document, the limit of detection is 5 mg/kg, and the limit of quantitation is 10 mg/kg.
