Scope

This document specifies requirements for reciprocating compressors (hereinafter
referred to as compressors) and their drivers, which are used in the petroleum, chemical,
natural gas industries.
This document applies to medium- and low-speed compressors and their associated
lubrication systems, controls, instrumentation, intercoolers, aftercoolers, pulsation
suppression devices, and other auxiliary equipment.
This document does not apply to integral gas-engine-driven compressors, single-acting
piston compressors with trunk-type (automotive-style) pistons serving also as
crossheads, or air compressors for utility or instrument air service with a discharge
pressure not exceeding 0.9 MPa.
Note: This document may be used for other facilities or industries upon agreement.
