Foreword
This Standard is developed basing on the current quality situation of bone meal, meat
and bone meal for feedstuffs, and with reference to the relevant provisions of the
national feed management departments.
This Standard is under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Feed
Industry of Standardization Administration of China.

Bone meal, meat and bone meal for feedstuffs
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods,
inspection rules and packaging, transportation and storage of bone meal, meat and
bone meal for feedstuffs.
This Standard applies to bone meal for feedstuffs made from animal bones by high
pressure steam sterilization or degumming and crushing, and meat and bone meal for
feedstuffs made from animal waste tissues and bones by cooking, degreasing, drying
and crushing.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this Standard.
3.1
bone meal for feedstuffs
Bone meal for feedstuffs is the product made from fresh and non-degrading animal
bones by high pressure steam sterilization, degreasing or degumming, drying and
crushing.
3.2
meat and bone meal for feedstuffs
Meat and bone meal for feedstuffs is the product made from fresh and non-degrading
animal waste tissues and bones by high temperature and pressure, cooking,
sterilization, degreasing, drying and crushing.
4 Requirements
4.1 Bone meal for feedstuffs
4.1.1 Bone meal for feedstuffs is the light gray brown to light brown powder, with
inherent odor of bone meal, no corrupt odor. Except for a small amount of oil and
connective tissues, the product may not be added with the material other than bone
meal. It shall not use the bone from animals with disease to process bone meal for

7.3 It is forbidden to be mixed with toxic and hazardous materials or other
contaminated items during transportation.
7.4 It shall be stored in a cool and dry place, being protected against moisture, mildew
and insects. In compliance with the specified conditions, the shelf life is 180 days.
