Strength - Part 1. Steel Ball Method".
Appendix A and Appendix B of this standard are informative.
This standard was proposed by China National Textile and Apparel Council.

Technical Committee on Textiles of Standardization Administration of China.

Textiles - Determination of Bursting Strength –
Steel Ball Method
1 Scope
This standard specifies the methods for the determination of the bursting strength of
textile by polished steel balls, including the test piece bursting strength tests in two
states of conditioning in standard atmosphere for test and soaked in the water.
This standard is applicable to various textiles.
2 Normative References

GB/T 6682 Water for Analytical Laboratory Use - Specification and Test Methods
(GB/T 6682-1992, neq ISO 3696.1987)
3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this standard.
3.1
Bursting strength (strength at burst)
It refers to the measured maximum force in the process when the polished steel balls
is pressed against the test piece in the direction vertical to test piece plane until the
test piece is damaged.
3.2
Constant rate of extension testing machine
9.2 Calculate coefficient of variation CV of bursting strength, if required, to the
nearest 0.1%.
10 Test Report
The test report shall cover the following contents.
a) Reference to this standard;
b) A simple designation of the tested materials;
c) Dimension of clamp and polished steel ball;
d) Test piece number and the give-up test number;
e) Test piece state (conditioning or humid);
f) Mean bursting strength;
g) Bursting strength variation coefficient CV (if required);
h) Details of any deviation from the standard test procedure.
