Foreword
This Standard is identical to the international standard ISO 13920.1996
“Welding - General tolerances for welded constructions - Dimensions for
lengths and angles - Shape and position” (English version). To ensure the
applicability and coordination of the standard, this Standard, in the process of
equivalent conversion of ISO 13920, combined with the actual situations of
China, has made necessary treatment. For the references, the referenced ISO
standards are changed to the corresponding national standards in China.
This Standard was proposed by China Machinery Industry Federation.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee
55 on Welding of Standardization Administration of China.
Responsible drafting organization of this Standard. Harbin Welding Institute.
Main drafter of this Standard. Piao Dongguang.
Welding - General tolerances for welded constructions -
Dimensions for lengths and angles - Shape and position
1 Scope
This Standard specifies general tolerances for linear and angular dimensions
and for shape and position of welded structures in four tolerance classes, these
being based on customary workshop accuracy. The selection of a particular
tolerance class shall meet the actual needs.
General tolerances for linear and angular dimensions and for shape and
position as specified in this Standard apply for weldments, welding assemblies
and welded structures etc.. Special provisions may be necessary for complex
structures.
The specifications given in this Standard are based on the principle of
independency as specified in GB/T 4249, according to which the dimensional
and geometrical tolerances apply independently of each other.
Manufacturing documentation in which linear and angular dimensions or
indications for shape and position are presented without individually indicated
tolerances shall be deemed incomplete if there is no, or inadequate, reference
to general tolerances. This does not apply to temporary dimensions.
2 Normative references
The clauses in the following documents, by reference in this Standard,
constitute the clauses of this Standard. For the dated references, the
subsequent amendments (not including errata content) or revisions do not
apply to this Standard. However, parties which have reached an agreement
according to this Standard are encouraged to study whether the latest version
of these documents can be used. For the undated references, the latest version
is applicable to this Standard.
