Soybean Meal (Solvent) for Feedstuff
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the technical indicator, quality grade, test method, inspection
rules, label, package, transportation and storage of soybean meal (solvent) for
feedstuff (including the soybean meal with husk and soybean metal without husk).
This Standard is applicable to the soybean meal for feedstuff with soybean as the raw
material, produced through extraction method, or firstly peeling off the husk, then
extracting oil through extraction method. Such product is single-protein feedstuff.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this Standard.
3.1 Protein solubility of potassium hydroxide
Under the specified conditions, the mass percent OF soybean meal sample, soluble in
the crude protein of 0.2% potassium hydroxide, ACCOUNTING for the total crude
protein of the sample.
4 Requirement
4.1 Sensory attributes
This product is light brown or light yellow, in irregular fragments or coarse powder; the
colour is consistent, without fermentation, moldy, caking, moth-eaten, and different
odours.
4.2 Inclusions
No substances beyond the soybean meal for feedstuff shall be mixed; if adding the
antioxidant, anti-mildew agent, anti-caking agent and the like additives, the adding type
and amount shall be instructed.

5 Test Method
5.1 Inspection of sensory attributes and inclusions
It shall be performed as per the provisions of GB/T 14698.
5.2 Moisture determination
It shall be performed as per the provisions of GB/T 6435.
5.3 Determination of crude protein
It shall be performed as per the provisions of GB/T 6432.
5.4 Determination of crude fiber

It shall be performed as per the provisions of GB/T 6438.
5.6 Determination of urease activity
It shall be performed as per the provisions of GB/T 8622-1988.
5.7 Determination of protein solubility of potassium hydroxide
5.7.1 The protein solubility of potassium hydroxide can reflect the overheating
situation of the soybean meal product. For the soybean meal with different heating
situation, the protein solubility of potassium hydroxide is different. Firstly, measure the
crude protein content in the potassium hydroxide solution that can be soluble by the
soybean meal product under the specified conditions; then measure the total crude
protein content in the same soybean meal product; and calculate the protein solubility
of potassium hydroxide.
5.7.2 Reagents
Unless otherwise specified, only use the reagents that are confirmed as analytically
pure in the analysis; the water used shall be Class-III water specified in GB/T 6682.
5.7.2.1 0.2% potassium hydroxide solution. dissolve 2.44g of potassium hydroxide
into the water; use water to dilute and make constant value to 1L.
5.7.3 Apparatus
5.7.3.1 Laboratory used sample grinder.
5.7.3.2 Sample sieve. aperture of 0.25mm.
5.7.3.3 Analytical balance. sensibility of 0.0001g.
5.7.3.4 Magnetic stirrer.
5.7.3.5 Centrifuge. rotation speed of 2700r/min above.
5.7.4 Sample preparation
Take the representative soybean meal sample; use the quartering method to shrink
and reduce to take about 200g separately; smash, and pass through the sample sieve
with aperture 0.25mm; mix thoroughly; install into the grinding bottle for backup.
5.7.5 Determination procedures
Take 1.0g of soybean meal specimen, accurate to 0.1mg; place into the 250mL tall-
form beaker; add 50.00mL of potassium hydroxide solution (5.7.2.1); stir for 20min on
the magnetic stirrer (5.7.3.4); transfer the solution into the centrifuge tube; centrifuge
for 10min at the speed of 2700r/min (5.7.3.5); carefully take 15.00mL of supernatant;
place into the digestion tube; measure the crude protein content as per the provisions
of GB/T 6432; meanwhile, measure the total crude protein content of the same
specimen.
5.7.6 Result calculation
The protein solubility of potassium hydroxide X shall be expressed by mass fraction,
and calculated by Formula (1).
Where.
W1 – crude protein content in potassium hydroxide (5.7.2.1) dissolved by soybean
meal sample, %;
W2 – total crude protein content of soybean meal sample (take the arithmetic mean of
two parallel determination results as the measurement result), %;
The calculation result shall be expressed to 1 digit after the decimal point.
5.7.7 Precision
5.7.7.1 Repeatability
The relative deviation of the two parallel determination results performed in the same
laboratory and by the same operator shall be no greater than 2%; while take the
arithmetic mean of two parallel determination results as the measurement result.
5.7.7.2 Reproducibility
The relative deviation of two determination results performed in different laboratories,
by different operators, with different instruments shall be no greater than 4%.
5.8 Allowable error
The two-test allowable error for the test determination value shall be performed as per
the provisions of used method.
5.9 Monitoring and Arbitrating
When judging whether each indicator qualified through monitoring and arbitrating, its
analysis allowable error shall be performed as per the provisions of relevant national
standard.
