Air Cleaner
1 Scope
This standard specifies terms and definitions, classification, technical requirements, testing
methods, inspection rules, marking, packing, transport, and storage of air cleaner.
This standard is applicable to air cleaner with single-phase rated voltage 220V or three-phase
rated voltage 380V for household and similar usage. And it is also applicable to air cleaner used
by non-professional in public places.
This standard is not applicable to.
― Air cleaner special for automobile purpose;
― Air cleaner special for industrial purpose;
― Air cleaner used in the specific environment places at where corrosive and explosion
gases (like dust, vapor and gasses) are often generated;
― Air cleaner for medical purpose.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Air cleaner
It refers to an electrical device with a certain capacity to remove solid pollutant and gaseous
pollutant in indoor air.
3.2
Multifunctional air cleaner
It refers to an air cleaner that can remove 2 or more types of gaseous pollutants.
3.3
Clean air delivery rate (CADR)
It refers to the parameter that indicates the cleaning capacity of an air cleaner, expressed by the
clean air delivery rate in unit time (CADR), represented in letter Q, in unit of cubic meter per
hour (m3/h).
3.4
Clean efficiency (Efficiency of clean)
It refers to the clean air delivery rate per unit power consumption of an air cleaner, expressed
by "η", in unit of cubic meter per hour watt (m3/h·W).
3.5
Total clean efficiency (Total efficiency of clean)
It refers to the sum of the clean air delivery rate, with various air pollutants removed, generated
by per unit power consumption of a multifunctional air cleaner, expressed by "ηz", in unit of
cubic meter per hour watt (m3/h·W).
3.6
Natural decay
It refers to the reduction of the concentration of the pollutants in air, caused by the natural
phenomena such as settlement, agglomeration and superficial deposit in test chamber.
Calculate the correlation coefficient R2 according to the requirements in Appendix B. R2
shall be larger than or equal to 0.98.
6.5.3 Calculation of clean air delivery rate of air cleaner to remove gaseous pollutant
The clean air delivery rate of air cleaner to remove gaseous pollutant is calculated according to
Formula (2).
6.6 Cleaning life span test
6.6.1 Place the air cleaner to be tested on test table at the middle of the test chamber
(Appendix A) (except vertical-type air cleaner). Adjust the air cleaner to the test-required
working state. Inspect the running condition id it is normal. Then close the switch located
outside of the test chamber.
6.6.2 Test the clean air delivery rate of an air cleaner to remove solid pollutant or gaseous
pollutant according to the requirements of 6.4 or 6.5. And record it as the initial value.
6.6.3 Start the atmospheric control device. Make the indoor temperature and relative humidity
to the specified state. Start the circulating fan. Connect solid pollutant or gaseous pollutant
generator with a pipe passing through the test chamber wall. The generated pollutants can be
absorbed into the air eddy stirred by the circulating fan. The pollutant concentration in the test
chamber shall be kept within 100 times of the value specified in GB/T 18883. And the
concentration change shall be kept within 10% of the mean value during the cleaning life span
test.
6.6.4 Start the air cleaner to be tested. Record the time as the starting time (t=0). After the air
