4 Ordering Content
The order contract in accordance with this Standard shall include the following technical contents.
a) Product name (e.g., bearing steel wire);
b) Serial number of this Standard;
c) Specification and shape (it shall be indicated in the contract when steel wires are required to be delivered in straight lengths);
d) Quantity;
e) Purpose (e.g.. being used for pin rollers);
f) Delivery condition;
g) Other special requirements proposed by the purchaser.
5 Sizes, Shapes, Weight and Permissible Deviations
5.1 Sizes
5.1.1 The diameter range of steel wires is 1.00mm~16.0mm.
5.1.2 The permissible deviation of the diameter of steel wires shall meet the requirements of Grades 9~11 in Table 3 of GB/T 342-1997. The permissible deviation of the diameter of steel wires shall be indicated in the contract, otherwise steel wires shall be supplied according to Grade 11.
5.1.3 As required by the purchaser, agreed by the supplier and the purchaser, and also indicated in the contract, the steel wires of special sizes and permissible deviations may be supplied.
5.2 Shapes
5.2.1 Coils
Each coil of steel wire shall be constituted of one stick of steel wire. The steel wire coil shall be regular without any disorder, knot or obvious bend.
5.2.2 Straight lengths
5.2.2.1 When steel wires are delivered in straight lengths, their general length shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 1. When steel wires are required to be delivered in specified lengths or multiple lengths, it shall be indicated in the contract, and the permissible length deviation shall be +50mm.
5.2.2.2 The curvature of straightened steel wire shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 1. The ground straightened steel wires shall meet the relevant requirements of GB/T 3207.
the lightly drawn steel wires used for manufacturing steel balls are allowed to have individual pits, press marks and scratches on their surfaces, however, the defect depth shall not exceed half of the diameter tolerance.
6.8.2 As required by the purchaser, the sizes of the steel wires delivered in lightly drawn condition may comply with the requirements of Grade 10 accuracy.
7 Test Methods
7.1 Surface quality inspection
7.1.1 For each steel wire coil, a specimen in length not less than 250mm shall be taken from each end of the steel wire to undergo acid leaching for the purpose of inspecting the surface quality of steel wire (the supplier shall cut a section in length of not less than 500mm off each end, and then take a specimen from each end to undergo acid leaching for the purpose of inspecting the surface quality). The specimens shall be inspected after undergoing etching in sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid. 7.1.2 To determine the surface defect depth of steel wire, the surfaces of steel wires s...
