Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020
"Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of
standardizing documents".
This document is Part 2 of GB/T1844 "Plastics -- Symbols and abbreviated terms". The
following parts of GB/T 1844 have been published:
- Part 1: Basic polymers and their special characteristics;
- Part 2: Fillers and reinforcing materials;
- Part 3: Plasticizers;
- Part 4: Flame retardants.
This document replaces GB/T 1844.2-2008 "Plastics -- Symbols and abbreviated terms
-- Part 2: Fillers and reinforcing materials". Compared with GB/T 1844.2-2008, in
addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are
as follows:
a) According to general requirements, the symbols of aromatic polyamides have
been changed (see 5.1 of this Edition; 3.2 of Edition 2008);
b) The symbols "ME", "EM", "CM", "LF", "NF" and the names of the materials they
represent have been added (see 5.1 and 5.2 of this Edition).
This document identically adopts ISO 1043-2:2011 "Plastics -- Symbols and
abbreviated terms -- Part 2: Fillers and reinforcing materials".
Two chapters "Normative reference" and "Terms and definitions" have been added to
this document.
The following minimal editorial changes were made to this document:
- The content of "Applicable limits" has been added to the "Scope" chapter to comply
with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be
the subject of patent rights. The issuing authority shall not be held responsible for
identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document was proposed by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association.
This document shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on
Plastics of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 15).
Plastics -- Symbols and abbreviated terms -- Part 2: Fillers
and reinforcing materials
1 Scope
This document defines uniform symbols for terms related to fillers and reinforcements.
This document includes only abbreviations whose purpose is clear, in order to avoid
multiple abbreviations for a specific filler or reinforcement or multiple interpretations
of a specific abbreviation.
This document applies to plastic fillers and reinforcements.
NOTE: The symbols and abbreviations of base polymers and their special properties are shown in
GB/T 1844.1. The symbols and abbreviations of plasticizers are shown in GB/T 1844.3. The
symbols and abbreviations of flame retardants are shown in GB/T 1844.4.
2 Normative references
This document has no normative references.
3 Terms and definitions
There are no terms or definitions that require definition in this document.
4 Use of symbols
4.1 The symbols for fillers and reinforcing materials are specified in 5.1. The symbols
for indicating the shape and/or structure of fillers and reinforcing materials are specified
in 5.2.
4.2 Except for chemical symbols, capital letters should be used.
4.3 The type of filler and reinforcing material is indicated by the first letter. The physical
shape or structure is indicated by the second letter.
NOTE: Some special cases use 1 or more letters, see Table 1 and Table 2.
Example 1: GF stands for glass fiber.
Example 2: GCM stands for chopped glass fiber.
