Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 18411-2001 “Road vehicle - Manufacturer’s plate”.
As compared with GB/T 18411-2001, except for editorial changes, the main
technical changes are as follows.
- In clause 1, ADJUST the scope of application of the standard;
- In clause 2 terms and definitions, ADD the relevant reference standards;
- In clause 4.1, ADD the shape requirements of the manufacturer’s plate;
- In clause 5.1.1, DIVIDE the marking content of the manufacturer’s plate into
the specified items and optional items, and no longer set the specified area
or free area;
- In clause 5.2 specified item requirements, ADD the Table 1 and Table 2, to
define the specified item content and marking specifications;
- In clause 6.1, INTEGRATE the marking position requirements of the
manufacturer’s plate;
- In clause 7.4, ADD the requirements for anti-counterfeit fonts and GIVE
examples.
This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Information
Technology of the People’s Republic of China.
This standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Automotive
Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC 114).

Power-driven vehicles manufacturer’s plate
1 Scope
This standard specifies the type, marking content, marking position and
marking requirements of power-driven vehicles manufacturer’s plate.
This standard applies to automobiles and non-complete vehicles, trailers,
motorcycles and mopeds, tractors that constitute tractor transport units, wheel-
type special machinery vehicles, special-type vehicles, and other vehicles can
make reference to it.
2 Normative references

the dated documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable
to this document; for the undated documents, only the latest version (including
all the amendments) are applicable to this standard.

The terms and definitions defined in GB 7258, GB 16735, and GB/T 21085
apply to this document.
4 Types of manufacturer’s plate
4.1 The outline of the manufacturer’s plate shall be rectangular and it can be
rounded.
4.2 The size of the manufacturer’s plate and the selected font and color shall
be determined by the vehicle manufacturer, but the marking content shall be
5.3.1 If the vehicle is manufactured on the basis of a complete vehicle or a non-
complete vehicle, the manufacturer may indicate that “the vehicle is
manufactured based on a complete vehicle or a non-complete vehicle of the ☆
☆☆☆ model produced by ★★★★.” Among them, “★★★★” indicates the
full name of the complete vehicle or non-complete vehicle manufacturer that
manufactures the purchased vehicle, “☆☆☆☆” indicates the vehicle model of
the complete vehicle or the non-complete vehicle.
5.3.2 If the World Manufacturer Identification Number (WMI) in the Vehicle
Identification Number (VIN) indicated on the manufacturer’s plate does not
belong to the manufacture plant of the vehicle, the manufacture plant may
indicate its own World Manufacturer Identification Number (WMI).
5.3.3 If the manufacture plant marks the optional item on the manufacturer’s
plate, it shall also indicate its Chinese “item name”.
6 Marking position of manufacturer’s plate
6.1 Vehicles shall be marked with at least one manufacturer’s plate. The
manufacturer’s plate shall be located on the right side of the vehicle's heading;
if it is limited by structure, it can also be placed in other locations that are easy
to access and observe, and are not easy to wear, replace, and cover.
6.2 For multi-stage finished vehicles, the intermediate stage manufacturing
plant and the final stage manufacturing plant shall maintain the manufacturer’s
plate of the complete vehicle or complete vehicle in the previous stage when
the multi-stage vehicle is manufactured; and shall mark the multi-stage
manufactured vehicle with the corresponding manufacturer’s plate. If space
permits, the manufacturer’s plate shall be marked as much as possible on the
multi-stage finished vehicle parts.
6.3 Vehicle manufacturers may also mark manufacturer’s plates in multiple
locations, but at least one of them shall meet the requirements of 6.1.
6.4 At least one specific location of the manufacturer’s plate that meets the
requirements of 6.1 shall be stated in the product instruction manual.
7 Marking requirements for manufacturer’s plates
7.1 The Chinese characters, Arabic numerals and Roman letters used on the
manufacturer’s plate shall be not less than 4 mm. If the manufacturer’s plate
content is printed directly on the vehicle parts, the printed font height shall be
no less than 7 mm.
7.2 The manufacturer’s plate shall be permanently marked on the structural

6 Marking position of manufacturer’s plate
6.1 Vehicles shall be marked with at least one manufacturer’s plate. The
manufacturer’s plate shall be located on the right side of the vehicle's heading;
