Foreword
This Standard is not equivalent to use international standard ISO 4332.1997 Non-Ionic
Surface Active-Agents – Determination of Sulfated Ash – Gravimetric Method.
This Standard changed the platinum crucible used in ISO 4322 into porcelain crucible;
changed the heating by gas lamp into heating by an electric furnace; ignited the sample
with filter paper core, so that the sample can burn smoothly without splashing.
This Standard was proposed by State Bureau of Light Industry.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee for
Standardization of Surfactant Cleaning Products.
Drafting organization of this Standard. Research Institute of Daily Chemical Industry.
Chief drafting staff of this Standard. Liu Qi’e.
Non-Ionic Surface Active Agents - Determination
of Sulfated Ash - Gravimetric Method
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the gravimetric method to determine the sulfate ash in the
general non-ionic surface active-agent.
This Standard is applicable to determine the sulfate ash in the general non-ionic
surface active-agent.
2 Normative References
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard,
constitute provisions of this Standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated
are valid. All standards are subject to revision. The parties who are using this Standard
shall explore the possibility of using the latest version of the following standards.
GB/T 13173.1-1991 Method of Sample Division for Detergents (eqv ISO 607.1980)
3 Principle
The test portion was calcined in the presence of a sulfuric acid solution; and the ash
in the form of sulfate was weighed.
4 Reagents
During the analysis process, only use the analytically pure reagents and distilled water
or the water with at least equivalent purity.
Sulfuric acid. approximately 6mol/L solution.
5 Instruments
The general instruments in laboratory and the following apparatuses.
