Foreword
This Standard replaces GB/T 17729-1999 “Hygienic standard for the air quality
inside long distance coach”.
Compared with GB/T 17729-1999, the main technical differences of this
Standard are as follows.
- The concentration limit of oxygen is adjusted from “≥ 18 %” to “≥ 20 %” (see
Table 1);
- The concentration limit of carbon dioxide is adjusted from “≤ 0.15 %” to “≤
0.20 %” (see Table 1);
- ADD the main components and limits of air in long distance coaches,
including formaldehyde, toluene, dimethylbenzene, and total volatile
organic compounds (see Table 1).
This Standard was proposed by Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic
of China.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of Highway Department of the
Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China.
Main drafting organizations of this Standard. Chongqing Jiaotong University,
Chongqing Environmental Protection Administration, National Passenger Car
Quality Supervision and Inspection Center.

long-distance coaches.
This Standard applies to all types of long-distance coaches, and other coaches
may also refer to this Standard.
2 Term and definition
For the purpose of this Standard, the following term and definition apply.
2.1
interurban coach
A coach designed and equipped for intercity transportation. This type of vehicle
does not have a position for passengers to stand, but it can carry passengers
of short-distance standing in its aisle.
3 Air quality requirements
The standard values of the main components of the air inside long-distance
coaches are shown in Table 1.
