This Standard is the Part 5 of GB/T 17626.
This Standard is equivalent to IEC 61000-4-5.2005 (Ed. 2) Electromagnetic compatibility
Testing and measurement techniques Surge immunity test
In this Part, the vertical axis title of figure 2, 3, 5 and 6 in IEC 61000-4-5.2005 are modified.
This Part replaces GB/T 17626.5- 1999 Electromagnetic compatibility Testing and
measurement techniques Surge immunity test

This Standard has the following main difference from GB/T 17626.5-1999.
1) Add new definitions
2) Add 10/700μs open-circuit voltage wave shape and 5/320μs short-circuit current wave
shape;
3) Define the voltage/current waveform at EUT port in coupling/decoupling network;
4) Add coupling/decoupling network selection procedure diagram;
5) In the configuration of unshielded unsymmetrical interconnection lines, add coupling via
a clamping circuit.
6) In the configuration of unshielded unsymmetrical interconnection lines, delete
“Line-to-ground coupling”, and only define “all line-to-ground” coupling, and also
change the coupling method to via arrestor.
7) Add the test requirements for high speed communications lines
8) Cancel the requirement for earth connection capacitor for the test of shielded lines
grounded only at one end;
9) Add Alternative coupling method for testing single cables in a multi-shield configuration
10) Change the surge Repetition rate to at least 1/ minute.
11) Modify 8.1.1 Climatic conditions
12) Modify Evaluation of test results
13) Define the specific requirements for test report;
14) Modify Table A.1 Selection of the test levels
15) Add the description of system level immunity in Annex B, and delete figure B.1 through
Figure B.3 in 1999 version.

17) Re-edit the content of this Standard.
a) Exchange Clause 4 Definition with Clause 3 “General”;
b) Change the centralized figure arrangement in the original standard into distributed
arrangement by distributing the figures into the corresponding text.

1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 17626 relates to the immunity requirements, test methods, and range of
recommended test levels for equipment to unidirectional surges caused by overvoltage from
switching and lightning transients. Several test levels which relate to different environment
and installation conditions are defined. These requirements are developed for and are
applicable to electrical and electronic equipment.
The objective of this Standard is to establish a common reference for evaluating the immunity
