GB/T 16479-2008: Light rare earth carbonate

This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, transportation and storage of light rare earth carbonate. This standard is applicable to light rare earth carbonates prepared by chemical methods using the light-rare-earth-based rare earth minerals as raw materials. It is mainly used as a raw material for separating a single rare earth product, preparing a rare earth polishing powder, or as a raw material for producing mixed rare earth oxide for electrolysis purposes.

Foreword
This standard is a revision of GB/T 16479-1996 ?€?Rare earth carbonate?€?. As compared with GB/T 16479-1996, the main changes of this standard are as follows.
- CHANGE the standard name to ?€?Light rare earth carbonate?€?;
- According to the requirements of GB/T 17803-1999 ?€?Designation system
for rare earth products?€?, USE digital designation;
- CANCEL the designation of the original RE2(CO3)3 ?€? XH2O-H1, ADD the
product designation of 193244C;
- ADD the evaluation index of praseodymium oxide content and non-rare
earth impurities alumina, zinc oxide; CANCEL the evaluation index of
sodium oxide;
- CHANGE the evaluation of calcium oxide and magnesium oxide from the
resultant assessment to the component assessment;
- MAKE appropriate adjustments to the content of rare earth elements of each designation as well as the content of other non-rare earth impurities. This standard was proposed by the Rare Earth Office of the National
Development and Reform Commission.
This standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Rare Earth Standardization Technical Committee.

3 Requirements
3.1 Chemical composition
Product designation and chemical composition shall meet the requirements of Table 1. If the purchaser has special requirements, the supplier and the purchaser may negotiate separately.
